Cactus ID- San pedro ?
    #14239708 - 04/05/11 12:28 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Hey all I'm fairly sure these new cacti i bought from a nursery are san pedros but i'm not quite sure! i'm starting to think they might be trichocereus scopulicola.

The reason I'm not quite sure is because the spines are alot closer together than my other larger pedros, i think it might be because they were grown from seed.. and my larger ones from cuttings.

They are also a bit darker than my larger ones but i think this is mainly to do with water content (correct?)
2 of them are also in the process of adding ribs which i've heard is more akin to trichocereus scopulicola then san pedros (do pedros add ribs?)

heres the ones i'm unsure of.

Thanks for your help

One on the left I would call San Pedro.

The one on the right I would also call a San Pedro. The spines are too prominent for it to be scopulicola in my opinion. You could just label it as a Trichocereus/Echinopsis for now and in a few years time you should be able to see clearly what it is.

Some people claim them to be as potent. They're just a cool columnar cactus regardless.
