are they teachers? spirits? essences?
or just chemicals? molecular configurations? drugs?
do we make them into teachers by extracting a lesson and learning?
or do they have a 'subtle' will and intention of their own?

Personally I look at them as having the ability to open the third eye, naturally occuring or otherwise. Chemicals and atomic particles are spirit manifesting itself, the point of contact our minds have with the cosmos.
But you make what you will of it, life doesn't seem spiritual if you waste it. If you're in pain or lost in confusion.
Balanced study, with ethnogens and quiet contemplation can enable one to reach heights the unwashed masses spend lifetimes looking for. Lost in a slumber, unable to discern their dreams. Ethnogens unlock the subconsious mind, allowing one to consciously tune it. You still need a reference pitch and a chart of the stars.

I think that they are just chemicals that play with your brain functions. There are nice feelings and very special moments while under influence, and they really force you to 'direct' experience, imo that happens when they dissolve your 'thought' of who you are, So you see through it. Sadly it's temporary, this thought builds up after time.

What does it matter if a psychedelic is "natural" or "synthetic"? (Meaningless dichotomy anyway; everything, including humans and science, is "natural"). LSD can change your perspective just as much as mushrooms.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Freedom is a spectacular thing.

Yeah..all stuff where you get peace/happiness from are temporary, it will be lost, or ended or will cease other way. To me looks like permanent happiness nothing external can give, it can be found by looking for that which always has been and is present.

Because I don't feel the idea that synthetic drugs are spirits/teachers/essences is as believable as natural drugs. I never said the profoundness of the experience is greater with natural drugs.

Personally the deepest spiritual experiences I've had on ethnogens came from synthetics. Not to say they're better or worse, but theres a common thread amongst psychedelics and the actual substance is less important than how you use it and percieve it

As we took leave of MarĂa Sabina and her clan at the crack of dawn, the curandera said that the pills had the same power as the mushrooms, that there was no difference. This was a confirmation from the most competent authority, that the synthetic psilocybin is identical with the natural product.

They are chemical keys to mental doorways into realms populated by beings that can speak in plain human voices and impart knowledge or chaos.

What is the difference between samadhi, the ecstatic trance state from dancing sweat lodges and drumming, or the trance state from drugs, simply put the trance from meditation is the only one that comes from inside, and is therefore genuine.
