Extreme?

One either is or is not doing The Lord's work.

Of course but there are degrees. A suicide bomber is more extreme in his action than a jehova's witness knocking on your door. The more extreme, the more deluded.

It's funny how when  someone is doing the lords work, it is more an assumption on the part of the worker / organization of what god's work is, rather than heavenly chores. :tongue2:
People anthropomorphize god all the time, and it may be that the major faults so often pointed out about religion stems from this habit of putting words in god's mouth.

Let him pull his share of the load.

He's trying.

When these folks tried to do His work by distributing bibles in far off lands, they were hijacked and killed by Somali pirates. Seems to me god is sending us a message to get the fuck out of the god business:

--

Four Americans on a sailing vacation were shot and killed by Somali pirates Tuesday in the north Arabian Sea, despite a last-second rescue effort by a team of U.S. Navy commandos.

Their yacht, the Quest, a 58-foot sailing vessel, was seized by 19 pirates Feb. 18, and was being shadowed by four U.S. Navy warships. Two of the pirates were aboard the USS Sterrett and engaged in negotiations when their cohorts aboard the yacht fired a rocket-propelled grenade at the warship, and gunfire broke out among the pirates aboard the sailboat, said Navy Vice Adm. Mark I. Fox, commander of the U.S. 5th Fleet, which conducts naval operations across the Middle East.

Several of the pirates on the Quest appeared on deck with their hands in the air, Fox said, as a boarding party of U.S. Navy SEALs sped across the water to the vessel.

Upon boarding, they found all four Americans alive but fatally wounded, and they died despite receiving emergency first aid.

The SEALs next went below deck, where they shot one pirate and stabbed another to death, Fox said, and took the others prisoner.

Fox, who briefed Pentagon reporters by phone from his headquarters in Bahrain, identified the Americans as Jean and Scott Adam of Marina del Rey, Calif., the Quest's owners, and Phyllis Macay and Robert Riggle of Seattle. He said all four died of their wounds shortly after the SEALs boarded the yacht. He said their next of kin had been notified.

It seemed likely that a violent argument broke out among the pirates while their comrades engaged in negotiations aboard the Sterrett. Fox said the pirates wanted to take the Quest and the hostages to Somalia, a demand the Navy obviously would not meet, making negotiations difficult.

Fox said he had no idea what triggered the initial gunfire Tuesday morning while good-faith negotiations were underway. The shooting erupted "with absolutely no warning'' after eight days of negotiations. The American intent, he said, "was that this would be a negotiating process and not ever go to a point where we actually had gunfire.''

The pirates are in custody aboard one of the U.S. warships and "we will bring them to a judicial process and hold them accountable,'' Fox said. The FBI is investigating the incident.

The Quest was seized in an area of intensifying pirate activity. Despite aggressive patrolling by the U.S. Navy and others, pirates have extended their reach by using mother ships to launch smaller attack boats, enabling them to strike as far as 1,500 miles from the Somali coast, Fox said.

The U.S. 5th fleet, which heads an anti-piracy task force of 34 ships from 15 different countries, regularly issues warnings to mariners in the seas where the Quest was seized, roughly midway between Socotra, Yemen, and Masirah Island in Oman, north of the tip of Somalia.

"We've seen a growing reach in terms of pirate activity off the coast of Somalia,'' Fox said. In response, the 5th fleet and naval task forces from the European Union and NATO have set up a heavily patrolled transit corridor to provide safe passage for commercial shipping.

But he stressed that the north Arabian Sea is "a vast, vast area. We have 34 warships patrolling there . . . but there are vast areas where we are not.''

1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you.
2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child.
3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer.

4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.
