I hate tap because it smells and tastes like a swimming pool and because I don't want the fluoride treatment. Also, tap picks up stuff in the pipes which, depending on the pipes, is bad news. Plus there are residuals from pharmaceuticals at detectable levels. Also, a recent study analyzed the drinking water in 35 cities around the country found that most contained hexavalent chromium, a probable carcinogen. Who knows what else is present that we aren't even looking for.
Tap water tastes/smells like shit and contains shit I don't want to drink, so I source spring water. This whole idea that tap is better quality than bottled is really laughable since the chlorine alone in a glass of tap makes it a shitty glass of water unless I boil it first or let it sit out for hours.
if the source is a good spring with proper reports and you have shittier tap water by you that is cool but for most urban areas tap water way better but bottled is hit or miss. The chlorine can be evaporated without boiling by just letting it sit and the pipes get coated with the minerals in the water so the argument about picking up whats in the pipes is valid for a few weeks when the pipes get installed but that is about it. Most bottled goes through the same pipes then through a filter then into bottles to a truck and into a store then into your car to the fridge then in your tummy. I just would rather use the pipes the whole way as its kinda neat some people though " lets pipe water direct to people so they do not have to lug it anymore like savages"

-------------------- December 1960: "They took the drug one evening at Leary's house and had a profound experience, during which Ginsburg prophetically realized that it was a time to start "a peace and love movement". He then ran naked around the house, attempted to get Kruschev and Kennedy on the telephone and announced to the operator that he was God."

Are you talking water bottle or water-cooler jug? Bottles are 1, not going downstairs right now to check on the water jug. I took an environmental science class and learned all about these numbers but I don't care about them... and I probably never will.

Tap water has fluoride in it. Hormones in it and god knows what else possible. Just think bout this countrys infrastructure deteriorating. That shows me how well public facilities take care of their resources. Not to mention out here in riverside they had a chemical used in making rocket fuel seep into the system. Thats some healthy drinking.

at least they tested it to fin d that rocket fuel ingredient. I bet a bunch of bottled has it in there but since they don't have to test it you never know and even if it gets tested they do not have to report it or recall it. Tap has to be reported and boil orders given if needed.

Actually people in the area that got contaminated were drinking it for a few weeks before they discovered it. Google it if ya want. Im sure there is a article on it, was in the news.

Does nobody else have a well to drink from? At my house the tap water comes from a well in my yard...
Bottled water is too expensive and wasteful.

In the hills and mountains people have wells but even those are undrinkable. But there are alot of horse ranches up there. Im pretty sure it goes by how toxic the ground water is tho for wells. But i am no specialist.

Yeah that makes sense, my house is out in the boondocks so I'm pretty sure the water is clean. There's no flouride or chlorine either.

There are tons of positives, I'd rather live in the sticks than in a city any day.

if there was an old mine around or even natural arsenic deposits the well could be bad but most of the time its tested when property is bought and sold IIRC. A lot of the time well water tastes shitty but its just extra minerals.Well water can be good or bad due to the source just like bottled can be. City tap water is at least tested on the regular that is why you do hear about bad water sometimes but when you see the bad test results on bottled they never report it publicly like city tap has to by law so certain brands might have to much bacteria or poisons in it but they never really have to recall or report. If you are 100% against tap water at least look up the results of testing on the brand you prefer.

I personally think tap water is disgusting, mine taste like the metal it comes out of.
