if you are reading this trying to learn something about taking your first mushroom trip, then please above all the other good information shared here understand that you must correctly identify a mushroom before eating it. Take a lot of caution, I mean a lot of caution. And please read the mushroom information sections and the FAQ's

"All white except for the top middle which was light brown" Grows on a tree by a river-
Ok, if we're going to assume our clue-impaired young friend here is no longer with us, can anyone come up with a good guess as to what deadly poisonous LBM he maybe did eat? Unfortunately he didn't give any geographical location.
It could just be good ol' Galerina Autumnalis- those grow on trees- but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess Amanita Brunnescens:

white except for the top middle of the cap, grow in hardwood forests in the Eastern US.
I know these are toxic, but how much so? Would half a mushroom kill you? Would 30 wet grams?
( OK, ok, those look nothing like a Cubensis, but considering that we are dealing with a stupid kid who didn't know psilo's turn blue...)

Can you guys explain this to me, since I'm starting to worry that in the future I'll consume some bad shrooms. I always buy from a dealer, and I've always trusted them which I don't think is always wise, so once they're dried, how can I tell if I'm getting the real deal and no something toxic? Does the shroom always turn blue if you press on it, or is that just for wet zoomies?

I've never heard of anyone picking mushrooms in the wild, drying them and selling them- any mushrooms you buy from a dealer will be Psilocybe Cubensis bulk-grown from syringes. Or at worst bunk Shiitake he got at the supermarket and is trying to rip you off with. Dried ones will usually turn blue (and turn the water blue-black) if you get them wet.

I don't think dealers would ever sell you picked mushrooms. They're usually less potent so he wouldn't have many repeat costumers. Also, most people I know that deal mushrooms are incredibly nice and trip just as often as I do.
