it's primarily a safety concern. some people tend to freak out on it and having someone there to make sure they don't hurt themselves, choke on their vomit etc. is pretty important. i'll take other psychedelics recreationally, but that stuff is just not for that.
further, i can tell that you personally haven't experienced it, because if you had, you wouldn't be associating fun with it at all. it's very rewarding, even life changing, and parts of it are definitely cool. but you have to fight through some serious stuff to get to that point.

sorry dude, but i've seen differently.
i'm personally very stoic under the influence of things like that, but that is hardly the norm with ayahuasca. my one and only ceremony was utter bedlam. people were screaming for their mothers and making all sorts of inhuman sounds. like honestly, i can't really rationalize some of the sounds i heard coming out of a human voice box. as i said, i'm glad we had someone there who knows what he's doing.
all it's going to take is some dumb ass taking some pharma with his little hippy friends, getting completely twisted and choking to death on his vomit to make the news. then everyone on here will be up in arms just like with the 2ce deal the other week.

either on a conscious or unconscious level.. you chose to have that kind of trip
the drug only triggers mechanisms in your mind, your mind does all the work and produces the experience. it is not the drug causing this, but your mind
i hate how people see psychedelics as a sort of "roulette wheel" that can either send you into a good trip or bad trip by chance
this is false. YOU are the only determinant of your experience

I don't think millzy is saying ayahuasca is a roulette, I think he's saying that the "Don't worry, be happy" mantra only goes so far with ayahuasca.

it's interesting for me to read folks experiences with ayahuasca and DMT. I've never experienced either and have the utmost respect/fear of both. In fact, a friend of mine has been sitting on a small baggie of DMT for over a year now because both of us are to afraid to smoke it.
for me, psychedelic usage is extremely spiritual and i've had a lot of personal spiritual baggage to sort through in the last few years of my life. I'm easing my way into the psychedelic experience and I certainly don't feel spiritually "prepared" for an experience as all encompassing as ayahuasca or DMT.
in fact, how in the fuck would someone even go about finding an ayahuasquero in modern day America? i mean, the only people i can envision being able to experience a "true" ayahuasca ceremony would be some sort of white yuppie type with enough money and connections to find the "right people".
then again maybe when it's time for me to take that journey those who can help me along will materialize. who knows

"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

don't get me wrong i get shaky palms every time i'm about to launch into hyperspace, just because it's an utterly alien & ego-annihilating experience
this is why i recommend only doin' it when it's bright and sunny outside

I disagree, Envix- it's not always that simple. The mind is an unfathomably complex machine, and the psychedelic experience goes deeper than your initial mindset. Psychedelics can trigger things from the subconscious to bubble to the surface, sometimes dark, scary things; things out of your control.

that's exactly what i'm saying. envix, this is different bud. an integral part of the experience is facing yourself for who (and what) you truly are. a lot of people don't like what they see. and with channeling and the other phenomena, i don't know man. it's something else. i wouldn't even classify it as a psychedelic. it's another category of human experience.
in answer to your query gerryjarcia, there are people besides curanderos who can make it, especially in texas. the medicine around here tends to be extracted using only food grade products, with the harmala in one capsule and crystalized dmt on some sort of flower petals in another capsule, taken 23 minutes apart. from the impression i get it's vastly stronger than what you get in the jungle, but i have no personal frame of reference for that.

it can trigger things from your subconscious in fact it often does. but nothing is out of your control IN MY EXPERIENCE
i've gone through a shit ton of terrifying DMT experiences until one trip in-particular i learned the secret to always having a good trip is focusing on the flow of time, and understanding that time CAN NOT PASS without your action whether that be conscious or unconscious

the key is realizing that U have the ability to control your actions and behavior through time on a conscious level and if u DONT BELIEVE u have that control then you're giving the experience over to your subconscious mind

dude, you're one of my favorite posters on here, but you're dead wrong about this envix. i'll also go as far to say that imho, it's not just your psyche you're dealing with in that state. stuff happened with my group that night that everyone witnessed (one of them being sober) and nobody can explain. i don't mean hallucinations, i mean physical phenomena. i think i've posted on here long enough to feel comfortable enough in sharing that without someone thinking i'm lying or embellishing.
this stuff is......something else. i'm telling you.

either way. everything that exists is inherently a neutral prop. the only determinant of good or bad in this universe originates from mind, not matter
fear and happiness are concepts, and don't exist on a physical level

Yeah, I would have to disagree as well.
I've had large doses of mushrooms cause very irrelevant paranoia and anxieties to surface from my subconscious. Even when in a very relaxed and pleasant mind state, with my focus on completely different topics.
The average person can't focus well either. You have to exercise your mind with meditation before you can really wield it's power.
