Anyone play runescape?

I just started playing again! Its a time killer since I got two years probation.. I'm going to attempt the whole "Sober" thing. haha

If you have a computer made within the last.. 10 years or so, you can probably find something much better than Runescape. Just saying; there's a lot of good MMOs out there and imho Runescape is not one of them :shrug:

Ninja Cat 09, don't log in too often anymore though.

There are quite a few merchanting guides around, basics are buy cheap and sell high (easier if you take the item, food for example, to where it is routinely required, say the edge of the wilderness)

ragnarok is wayyyy cooler. that game i got addicted to for about 9 months

Well, I had a bomb ass computer that my parents gave me last year for my 18th birthday and christmas combined. I went to go get it and they never gave it back. I called the cops and they started bitching me out and told me to be 1 mile away from the house or they would arrest me. Lmao.

fuck merchanting. make a mage pure and high alch bows that you make with fletching. also fish and cook for free food.

it is very boring and tedious, but what is there in that game that isnt... all you do is click. it requires no skill, and everything relies on a random number generator.

you can also kill people in the wildy once you have the god spells or whatever theyre called. i used to make so much cash with my mage pure.

but then i realized how horribly boring that game was and quit.

there is literally nothing fun in that game. It is merely played from obsession and addiction within the user.

There is no real escape in runescape, people 'fish' while doing stuff in the real world. You don't live in runescape, you click and watch the game play itself.

Fighting isn't even fun, as you pretty much have to dedicate free time perfectly a character because some OCD guy already did.

For the record, I played guildwars after I escaped from that damn runescape. That game was fun, and a REAL game. The graphics change up was much welcomed, and the fact I could play whenever I wanted and didn't feel compelled to level was great. I dabbled around and went through the story, joined a few friends from school and then found another guild and such. I got decently wealthy in the game as well as decent at playing it.

If I had still been playing runescape, I would have been no closer to having fun. O great, 91 runecrafting... hmm looks like I can click for some more to get more runes that cast spells that are not fun to watch or to do. Having to get up at 5 in the morning to get the best spots or do things in the wild without pk'ers. Yeah that was 'fun'.

Guildwars helped me do one think I wanted to do for a long time-quit! There was no need to play, so I did it less and less. I eventually didn't have a PC and couldn't. I have one now, and have no more temptation to play. I'm free from the urge to needlessly grind at skills that mean nothing when the server blows.

So yes, I am still hooked to the web and such. I use it for information though, and not just games. Well porn too. Still, games are fun in all, and I admit some of them as a kid probably helped me really develop creative problem solving skills at a young age, but running around in a mythical world is dumb for me. I don't live in the city, I can go and breath the air, climb a tree, and do whatever.

guild wars is a true game.

i love the elite skill system and how you have to really think about your skill choice as you can only use 8 at a time.

that really separates the skilled players from the idiots.

that game isnt all about gear either. everyone was essentially on the same level when it came to gear so the really skilled people dominated not because they spent 500000 hours grinding materials or money, but because they were actually good at what they did.

Ugh. Runescape, from the looks of this thread everyone feels the same. What a fucking time sink. I loved it. It was the shit. Then, when I was 14 I realised, what was so entertaining? My reason was PKing. The thought that somewhere, across the globe, someone just lost virtual money which represented the time they spent click click click clicking away at that tree stump.

I played it from RS-1 (2004?) to 2007.

I go on from time to time to talk to an old friend who still plays.

Now I play Fps because they take some level of 'skill', manly battlefield franchise. Battlefield 2, BF Bad Company 2 and Battle field Play 4 free.
