"OC, you are such a dick!" 2

But not a lying, dishonest dick.
Preachers, con men and politicians (not sure there is a real distinction among the three) are generally likable and charismatic, that is how they get followers. They are also known to bend, warp, spindle and mutiliate The Truth. Anything to manipulate their target audience. How very nice.
My biting remarks are not amied at gaining followers, but are the truth (small 't') as best I see it.
I remember the Shroomism/Niburu fiasco some 8 years back here. Many dozens of members jumped on my ass for speaking the truth, but almost no one got on Shroomism's ass for spreading misinformation (i.e. lies).
This thread is not really about me. It is about how the well-intentioned skeptic/debunker is almost always the 'bad guy' while the proponent of fantasy/horseshit is almost always 'the good guy'. ('The Secret' is a prime example.)
I find this phenomenon puzzling as I ALWAYS want my eyes opened - if possible.

Yeah the task of being one who is not needlessly arrogant can be extremely difficult. Excuse me, I'm going to post another thread about my plight in the hopes of giving these Philistines some abject sense of self-awareness.

If this thread was done keeping my recent remarks on mind, then I apologize: I did not mean that your truth is wrong and that you should not pursue it nor circulate it. I meant that often your remarks try to embarass the poster above or even insult them when they do not deserve it, causing unneccesary confusion and often misleading the thread.
I understand that circulating truth is emotional business, but for the sake of philospohical clarity, it is best to keep emotions on hold and be polite.

*OC goes to Africa - knocks on door* Please kind sir, do not kill the neighbor girl for believing she is a witch. Thank you for your time and consideration.
*OC goes to the Middle East - knocks on door* Please kind sir, do not kill the Christian infidel for believing that some ancient prophet commanded it. Thank you for your time and consideration.
*OC goes to the Deep South USA - knocks on door* Please kind sir, do not kill the doctor performing abortion for believing that some ancient prophet commanded it. Thank you for your time and consideration.
How efficacious will that be, ya think?

Really? A poster who intentionally misleads or gets caught deliberately making false or hyper-exagerrated claims is deserving of respect?
I think not.

Particulary This post.
Its not about respect, its about the clarity of discussion. Go disrespect the person in the Pub if you so willingly want to do so, oh our great saver from the evil people. I bet the world is a better place thanks to you.

See, this is the place where philospohical debate comes in action.
You believe the world is a better place thanks to OC, for you it is. But then again there are many of those who think not. People have very different understandings of a perfect world. An African lady who is going to kill her neighbour has her own views of a better world, and OC supposedly completely ruined hers. So how exactly it is better world?

Well, no one is dead because of me, but two members who no longer post, are alive, in part, because of me.

All I know is that he did some work with computers; I think computers kick ass, so, IMO, the world is better because of him. Also, he works pretty hard to battle against ignorance, which IMO has a positive effect on the world.

Notice how I take the time to respond to Simms complaint about my style, yet he could not bring himself to give a direct answer to my question.
Any surprise there? Its like there is a school that teaches the ducking of questions.
