I went to college for 3 days then dropped out because I had no money. Don't really regret it, though.

When I dropped out I didnt think I would be able to afford to go back. I was planning on attending lecture classes regardless of official enrolment with the university! I figured knowledge is knowledge and I could learn something still! lol

It all depends where you want to go, what you want to do. For me and my own personal aspirations I don't need or want it but I can see why people do it. Do what you think will make you happy but if you find yourself unsatisfied don't consider yourself a shitty person for deciding not to pigeonhole yourself. I know when I went to college I was pretty overwhelmed by it all and the few thousand dollars they wanted up front to start me was the final nail in the coffin that never was. I realized I was only going to college simply because everyone told me that is what I have to do, not because I wanted to. Now, I have a great job with great pay and benefits without the $20,000 in debt I was looking at WITH federal aid. I don't regret it at all but I do sometimes wish I had enough money to be able to pursue everything I want, including school because afterall - knowledge is power; though I am still unconvinced how much knowledge you really learn in college besides the same monotonous memorize, repeat, forget gig. Do what you want to do and don't look back.

i'm working now to save up i plan on going to college in about 2-3 years. i'm not willing to go in debt so i'm gonna save up. i wanna become a teacher at the moment, but if all else fails i'll probably just go work for my step dad. it's nice having options.

id at least get a 2 year degree if i were you OP. College is hard sometimes but just remember, you get out of college as much as you put into it. Sucking it up and really trying in the classes you dont like can turn out to be some of the most building experiences of your year
college aint for everyone though.. bill Gates, Mark Zuckerburg etc didnt go to college.. or graduate that is.. Just gottta ask yourself if you have what it takes to make it comfortably w/o a degree .

no not like that, i meant like sucking it up and doing what you gotta do and at the end of the year you will have grown and learned alot.
dont suck up or kiss ass to professors, thats stupid.
I love college personally, i dont see it as "a way to a peice of paper which is a way to a job". I see it as a way to be in an enviroment where I am constantly expanding my view on the world, every week i learn new things that change my thinking process and my POv. i beleive this will end up giving me the power to truly do what i want to do with my life, and im enjoying every minute of it. Im still a freshman though

I was sort of the same way. I was going to school, spending money, but I really didn't give a shit. It felt like a chore, like I was only going because people told me I should. I stopped going to college almost 2 years ago now and I'm SO GLAD that I did.
I actually like working. It's rewarding, and I really love my job. Besides, you can always go back to college later in life. If you don't know what you really want to do with your life, why waste the time/money on college?

Are you paying to put yourself through school? Is anyone helping you out? Loans?
If you are putting yourself through it is DAMN hard to do and will make your hair fall out. But this shows motivation, which means you would probably make it just fine if you dropped out, invested the money the right way and found your own path.
If some one else is paying for it... STAY IN SCHOOL
If it is a loan, DONT GO TO ART SCHOOL
My parents pay for it....
I cant stress enough how much I think you should stay in school. First of all, you wont inherit the debt. You don't have to know what you want to do, but find classes you are interested in, transfer to another school if you aren't happy with the one you are in. There are TONS of schools that are fit for TONS of different people. (Yes, I am using the caps lock today). But honestly, don't give up so easily, you need to step it up and look at all of the millions of options you have. Psychology, art, liberal arts, they have photography programs, you wont even have to buy a camera with your own money, just find somewhere that has nice cameras, or ask your parents to get one with some of the money.
Don't drop out man, you will be wasting an opportunity IMO. It isn't for everyone, but it is an awesome place where your mind expands a lot. You have all the years after you graduate to do whatever you want, plus the summers and winter break. College isnt a prison its a priveledge man, especially since you aren't footing the bill.

I say drop out. Less people with degrees makes other's college degree worth more when less people have them. Drop out, you can't do it.

Do what you want OP, someone has to work at all ends of the job spectrum or the service industry wouldn't work.
I personally hate minimal wage jobs around here. You can't pay me enough to kiss a person's ass who treats me like shit. I hated high school because I hate homework and studying, so I got my GED. College is different. Not only do I get to focus on specified interests and cultivate my knowledge in those areas, but it also helps discipline the mind. The reality of it is, unless you become a lot lurking hippy, you will have to work x amount of hours for x amount of pay, and if you don't go for what you want you'll be unhappy. I have found from experience that I don't want to be at the bottom of the chain. I want to do something that involves forever learning, and churning already stored information to find solutions, and I want to always be challenged.
Find what you want to do and go with that.
I found happiness through learning.
My mom can't pay for my college so I'm trying to network as much as I can (challenging as an introverted, shy, stutterer =P) so I have a lot of different things going for me that would help me stand out to Uni admissions people. I need help, and a scholarship(s).
Don't throw your parents money away.

I would advise against dropping out. Your parents put up the money for you to have an opportunity to learn whatever you like in a formal environment, so if you don't like what you're in for, change it. It would be a shame to piss away a free college education. My brother did that, and here I am stuck trying to find a way to pay for college on my own.
Ultimately, though, it's up to you, man.

I'm about to finish with an engineering degree, and I'm not even remotely interested in my field of study nor do I really feel I learned very much.
I disagree with most of the sentiments in this thread.
If you're smart and more importantly motivated, you'll make it no matter what. Just cause you don't go to university doesn't mean you'll be at the bottom of the food chain.
Open a business, learn the construction trade, become a contractor, tons of stuff you can do. Flip houses, the list goes on.
