http://topnews.net.nz/content/213233-survey-finds-increasing-danger-drug-driving
The Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse (CCSA) has carried out a survey to estimate the magnitude of drug driving problem and asked 2,840 drivers in British Columbia cities to voluntarily provide breath and oral fluid samples. The samples were tested for presence of alcohol and drugs and the reports revealed that 7.2% of drivers tested positive for drugs that can be dangerous while there are 37% drivers who tested positive for alcohol.
The Candor Trust has applauded CCSA efforts but is mighty displeased with MADD Canada naïve attitude as it believes that drug presence does not correspond to impairment. According to MADD, drinking and driving is major problem that needs to be addressed.
Candor Trust opines that drug driving is major issue and frequent mixture of alcohol and drugs has increased probability of accidents due to alcohol.
The Traffic Safety foundation Executive Director for the British Columbia Automobile Association, Allan Lamb said that he is not worried about the presence of drugs in driver system but blend of alcohol with drugs is really dangerous.
CCSA considers that this survey might be an underestimate of total percentage of drivers with drug in their system as there is possibility of drug presence not being detected due to level below detection thresholds.

drunk driving 37% drug driving 7% drinking looks like it is more of a problem. I bet that some of that 7% is cannabis use wich imo isnt that dangerous most the time.

Still pretty stupid to drive on cannabis IMO. Then again, it's unfortunately perfectly legal to drive after drinking 20 cups of coffee despite that obviously making someone off their ****ing face.
In which case, one must use one's own judgment, which I suppose could be applied to cannabis too... hmmm...
Still, driving is srs bsns and people shouldn't **** with it

But you won't be convicted unless you admit drinking too much coffee.

I can't believe we let people smoke cigarettes while driving. How did that manage to be acceptable during driving, while nothing else is?

They need evidence to obtain a conviction. The evidence comes in the form of a blood test or a persons admission. The blood test does not look for coffee.

Wrong, they convict people of DUI all the time for refusing breathalyser and blood draw.
But if you consent to the blood draw and they don't find anything, and there is no other solid evidence, then you should not be found guilty of DUI.

I used to greatly enjoy smoking cigarettes while driving.
I quit smoking quite a few years ago.

I enjoy smoking weed while driving. It doesn't affect my driving performance. I might drive a bit slower at times, but that is all.

I know that what you are saying is true, but you are doing a disservice to the marijuana legalization movement by telling people that.
