spawn to bulk or dunk and roll?
    #14230703 - 04/03/11 11:10 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

ive got close to nine quarts inoculated some time ago; i cant remember when.  they are all starting to fruit unfortunately and i just lost a 50gal tub last night.  they are wide mouth quarts but i dont think i can pull the block out without breaking it, should i smash the jar and dunk and roll and put on some perlite or should i just break the grains down and spawn to bulk?  ive got the materials to pretty much do anything but im really at a point right now i dont know what to do.  each jar probably has two fruits an inch long and a cm in diamter

um.. i have no clue what you are talking about..

what are you growing on?

are you fruiting inside of the jars?

what kind of fruiting chamber?

did you even induce fruiting, or is it happening on its own?

give us more info on what exactly you are trying to do..

quart jars are for bulk spawn.. if you are using BRF, then you should be using smaller jars..

please elaborate.. pics help, as well

theyre just rye berries soaked with coffee, and some calcium carb. i didnt introduce intro fruiting conditions the jars are just sitting there.  they still have the lids on them and the tyvek.  ive lost tub after tub this year spawning to bulk and the 50gal tub i just had consolidating for a week died overnight with trich, which i dont know what happened because i like my bulk subs on the drier side while consolidating and then i prefer to dunk to rehydrate before fruiting.  its just upsetting to spawn to bulk only to lose the tub two weeks down the road.  something is wrong in my pasteurization procedure or theres trich already in the grains or in the lc or something.  im just losing my mind at this point.  i feel like it would be easier to dunk and roll since i havent seen fruits this yr, but i know how much better the bulk subs do in comparison.

You should shake the dog shit out of them and spawn to bulk. A rooled rye cake will yeild next to nothing. Those little mush are fine, cause they are still sterile. Everything is fine, spawn it

I dont know why you would do that.. you want it at "field capacity" for optimal colonization..

what exactly is your "bulk sub"?

If you are spawning to coir, and getting Trich, then im going to say that your spawn is probably contam'd..

What is your prep technique for your bulk sub? whatever it is..

trich shows up in my grain jars and it would yours too. Try jaring up your bulk and pc'ing it. Then in a glovebox, mix it with your grain and cover. Always works for me:shrug:

nnnnnooooooooooo.. never sterilize bulk subs.. PASTEURIZE is what you want.. if you sterilize, you will see alot more contams, for sure..

The easiest bulk sub to prep is coir.. hands down.. its like, 3 steps, and done.. the prep is like, 80% neglect.. haha

im just curious if he is using doodoo or coir

and trich should not show up in your jars if they are properly sterilized and inoculated with an uncontaminated spore syringe, LC, iso, g2g, myc, etc..

ummm my sub to spawn ratio is always 1:1, and dont tell me i need to bring to field capacity, i know the drill, the mycelium consolidate fine in a sub thats a little dryer than field cap.  the sub mix ive been using is 4/40/10 hpoo, coir, verm.  so im looking at close to two weeks for these jars to consolidate and then another week depending?

haha word 45/45/10 sorry

you dont need that much spawn..

if you know what you are doing, then what is wrong? why do you need help?

I though you have done this before? you "know the drill", right? hahahahaha

but do you even have a reason why you do that? just curious if YOU know why.. because, it should be field cap all through colonization, which will support its first flush without dunking.. if you prepped it right..

dont get butthurt.. we are trying to help, and you can get mad if you get answers that you just dont like
