Pressure canners : Which is the best choice for a flat top stove for quart jars

I am researching the best pressure canner to invest in.
Because I have a standard flat top stove,

I wanted to seek out the advice from others in the community on the best location to buy a good deal on a pressure canner?
I am in Ontario Canada and would be looking for one suitable for at least doing 10 quart jars at at time. I don't mind going bigger than that, however I understand there is gains and losses in going too big.
Can someone give me some feedback from their experience on the best, type, model, price and location to buy or their thoughts of pros and cons
Would for example the all american 930 work?
thanks

get an electric portable PC or skillet..
those ranges are NOT made for prolonged, high heat.. I actually inherited all of my Gmas super old, super sweet cast iron cookware, because it can, and most likely will crack it..
I have heard of people using them, but its just not worth busting it..
$300 replacement Pyrex top vs $30 portable electric burner..
im just really into cooking, and it would kill be to see that nice range get fucked up

Thanks DJYoshaBYD
I appreciate the advice about the stove surface. I think I will hunt around for an old stove and perhaps even set it up in the garage or something or perhaps research a hot plate.
Something definitely worth considering.
Quite a few choices out there for pressure canners. Problem is which one to buy.
I figure I will be doing a lot of 1. L mason jars.

I just use a decent sized one, that fits about 7 jars comfy-like.. lol.. no need to go any bigger..
hotplates seem to be the best option for people in your situation..

Have you tried a heat diffuser? The reason cast iron cracks is that the pyrex doesn't heat evenly. If you diffuse the heat, you're good to go - just don't turn the temp up too high.
Check out the 5th one down.
You can try this on a PC, but you're not going to be able to turn it up to high so it's gonna take you a long time to get 10 quart jars up to the right temp.

yeah.. you can do that, but its like a brick pizza oven.. lol.. you have to let everything sloooowwwwlly rise to temp, otherwise cracks happen.. this can work, but I still wouldnt risk it.. just this lil bears opnion..

as stated before.. they DO work fine.. but its just not smart..
I just did a quick google search, though, and found that they may have PCs specifically for these ranges.. check that out.. better safe than sorry..

DJYoshaBYD is right. I have a "fifth burner" that cost less than $20 and works fine. One warning: these devices draw a great deal of power and can blow a house circuit if other devices are using it.
Good luck,
JD
P.S. As far as brands go, get an All-American if you can. They rock.

Thanks guys What I seem to like is that presto 23 unit. Price looks good.
Once I do a few batches and get more funds as time goes by later on, I shall look at perhaps getting a better unit.
The only sad part is that presto 23 from walmart appears to only be available in the USA ( they don't ship to Canada) I'll have to research a bit and see if I can find a Canadian suppier.
Plus I will search around for a hot plate to run it

Cant go wrong with the presto 23. You can get a gas camping stove for cheap and it will blast out some heat for low cost if you run it on propane. If you're wanting to do ten quarts at a time look into bags. 2 bags = a whole case of jars. Start with the jars and go from there though because if you do go bulk you can use your quart jars for LCs.

A camp stove might be a great idea. A gallon of white gas is pretty cheap.
Good luck,
JD
