Pacific Northwest little browns ID request
    #14229585 - 04/03/11 01:34 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Hey guys, I found these on my friend's farm and I was wondering if they are edible, poisonous (Galerina autumnalis?), psilocybe (cyanescens?) or have other uses (medicinal?). They were found near woodchips in sorta muddy soil in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks!

In the pictures, the mushrooms were washed and are wet/darker (if that matters...)

They are not cyans.  They are an inedible wood-loving species that is quite common.  The name slips my mind but I'm sure someone will mention it soon.

Galerina or Philiotina, deadly.

Alan has jogged my memory - Pholiotina filaris was what I was thinking.

more uninteresting, random fungus:

am not sure if I should make a new thread or will someone help ID these?

on the left it looks like some type of polypore. edible? grew on some trees.

on the right, I'm not sure. they are gill-less and smoothe underneath. they grew in the mud.

Looks like Stereum hirsutum (false Turkey Tail), and something similar to Polyporus elegans for the stalked polypore.  Just guesses with the specifics, but I can say for certain you don't want to eat either of them.

I'd agree with Lhun.
