I have FINALLY written up a couple teks as to how SHP has done things in the past. DISCLAIMER: This is not for the newbie to mycology, and not going to work for everyone! This is simply what works for one person when other teks and methods have failed miserably!

Yeah; something got mixed up along the lines. Those are Psilocybe cubensis. There is no significant chance of mistake, but even then they are unquestionably not Pleurotus.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Only those varieties with outstanding unusual physical traits can be identified to one or a handful of strains. As the other's put it, a cube is a cube. The differences are pretty much arbitrary.
