When arranged thusly as in the bottom picture...
Also, I must admit that art would be the only use I'd see for them. Unless you're coming across gold on the trail.

I found a couple of nice brick sized rocks with fossils in them, in a creek behind my house (700ft. above sea level) I want to crack open one of them to see if there's better specimens inside. And Rolling Stones rock too... . . .

yes, i see what you're talking about. i guess the stones help to serve as place markers for memorable moments/events. also, i try to bring a little of the natural world (in its semi-unmolested form) into my living space.
helps to keep me grounded, i suppose.

Better than bringing flowers back which will die shortly thereafter.

Here's some cool shiny rocks of mine that usually sit in the window, can anyone tell what minerals are in them? The 2 dark ones in the back are pretty heavy. I'm pretty sure i know what one of them is... (besides the round barnacle one)

My guess for the heavy ones is also iron ore, they look like they are rusty I actually didn't find them i got them from a geologist friend
The one with the big metallic chunks on the right i'm 99% sure is copper ore since there is some green oxidation on it.
The small one i really want to know.. It's really nice and sparkly all over like fine metallic crystals and a lot more blue on the blue bits than it looks in the pic.
