So, I was out in the woods today, with my G/F, and I was noticing the may-apples,at are and flowers, and they are the same plants that are in last years pictures. These are dated 4/1/2009: These are dated 4/6/2010; anyone in the Ohio river valley should be planning their trips! I hope to find the first ones this year

Nice pics! Just checked the weather and yeah it is warming up a bit next week here. Didn't realize. Still might be slightly too cold but I'd like to get out anyway and have a look.
I've never hunted ovoids before, but have some spots in mind near various rivers/creeks in the area. Hoping to find something, been reading all I can about ovoids. I'm sure there's more research to still be done. Looking forward to seeing if they are out there though.

I have this very same feeling sir. I have no idea why. I do remember last year though, around mid april we got a streak of like mid eighties in temp for like a week. I think that may have been somewhat responsible for the less than epic last season.
Anyway, mass, mass love, respect, and well wishing to my fellow Ohio Vallians. GET THOSE LITTLE BLUE GENTLEMEN!!!!

There is a huge gap between me and any other documented ovoid finds. I implore those within 100 miles of the Ohio river to get out there to the creeks and hollows rhis spring! That means you in S. Indiana, S. Illinois, and N. Kentucky! They are there, I know it! When I find morels, the ovoids are out, When I find ovoids, the morels are out.

Awesome. Remember, piles of wood debri....usually some grass growing through it. All i've ver found were within 100 feet of a creek or river.

Good luck bro, it has been irksome to me when I look at the Ovoid distribution map and I don't see them marked in Indiana. My man Paducah pulls them out right across the river. They virtually have to be there.

I'm right across form S. Illinois. Which is even further west. I'm 10 miles from the missisippi. I've found them for what will be the third year. I think they may be found in E. Missouri(along the Miss. river)

we'll see. There weren't any sat. at my spot. I did see coprinus micaceus, leucocoprinus caestipes, Something I called stropharia riparia(it may or may not have been that) and some pluteus cervinus.

I dont get out of school for another month, I think I'm going to die. I need their spores covering my hands!!!!
Would throwing woodchips down over top of the already known patches help them for the following year? I think I'm gonna get some aldar chips and try it out.
