Washington Morels
    #14226818 - 04/02/11 03:57 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

First off, sorry I don't got any pictures, but I lost my camera up snowboarding about a week ago. Well, I went out for a quick hunt today. Figured that with the record rain for the month of march, and a few days above 60ºF, morels might be out. I was only hunting for around an hour at one of my favorite local spots and ranked in about 4 fresh pounds:dancer: The forest follows a creek, and is a mix of cottonwood and sitka spruce. So for all of you up here in WA, get out there and do some hunting:sunny:

Nice Bfogg! I am so jealous. I went out hunting the day before yesterday for about 4 hours and yielded nothing. Searched all up and down the banks of The Willamette River which is lined with Ash/Alder/Cottonwoods.. nada. Wonder if its a bit early down here still.. though when I think about it that doesn't make a whole lot of sense..

Thanks man. That does sound kinda strange:shrug: Maybe I just got lucky. I'm only at about 500' and still near the city, so that might have something to do with it. But things are starting to pop up. Might be time for a Panaeolus cinctulus hunt

If you're talking about the one by North Bend, then maybe. The one out by granite falls is a no go. I know of a few others, one on the peninsula that I haven't ever hunted, and one in eastern WA that might be good (haven't ever hunted there either). I'm hoping to see some other people in WA find some, so if you go out, I'll be sending some :mushdance: vibes your way.

Thanks eveybody. It pisses me off I don't have a camera anymore:mad2: I'll have to get a new one soon. I almost enjoy photographing fungi more than picking them:shrug: But they are out there. Maybe only in little micro climates ATM, but the season will be in full swing here soon. Best of luck to everyone:cheers:
