I have heard similar things.

It is also suspected that PESA and Amazon are the same variety.

It's one of the more finicky ones.It likes to vegetate longer/ more densely, kinda like PE.  Back in the day when casings were popular PR was prone to overlay.

Aside from that me and Cervantes have had some discussion in PM on
the topic, was just stating it for anyone who did not know.

So one might expect the top layer to be nearly colonized completely before fruition?

I would recommend Ecuador, but the old saying holds true, "a cube is a cube."

Golden Teacher
The Golden Teacher is a classic cube. GT is very domesticated and is a good candidate for multispore inoculation.

Nobody seems to know where the Golden Teacher Cube came from but it was likely discovered in the Gulf region of the USA. This cube has been around for quite a while and has been sold by many vendors. It can produce average to large flushes of average looking cubes. Some GT's can grow to be quite large. Some may display a nipple on the top of the cap and according to Workman, the occasional 'wart'. Colonization and fruiting times may be a little slower than average. Opinions about the GT are quite mixed. Some love it, some hate it.

Yeah I read that. My question is about the real origins. I've heard mixed things that it's indigenous to America, that it's from SA, maybe even Asia.

I'm just wondering if anyone actually did an analysis on it and found it's twin or parent strand.

I really believe that a cube is a cube (mostly), but there are definitely some characteristics that vary from strain to strain.  Take PE for example.  It has been highly domesticated and has very different characteristics than other cubes.  I don't think that the "cube is a cube" statement necessarily always holds true.  We also have to remember that many here inoculate via MS, which itself causes variation within a strain.

I would have to agree.  There are minute differences in chemical levels between "races".  Seems like a more fitting term.  I believe that it's generally more the grow conditions that affect the potential of the flush but sometimes it's a little more of a dud than another.

IDK, varieties such as big tex or B+ for example always seem to out perform  PE from a yield stand point while PE is definitely a little more potent on average. That isn't to say you can't isolate for potency with a variety like B+ but If you do the same with PE again it is stronger.

A cube is a cube,,..... with the exception of PE.

That is my stance on it, but from a genetic stand point PE is a cube so it gets complicated. This is why the original sentence gets reduced

A cube is a cube,,..... with the exception of PE.

As far a variation goes. Anyone who has grow Chitwan next to Huautla knows how this ones goes,......

My Texas "Yellow Cap" grow was big and strong- just not too awful many flushes. Had Orissas at same time that produced 2x's as long.
