I planted some mescalito seeds (UPDATE)

Hello everyone in this great forum!!!
Well i got some seeds and decided it was time to germinate them!!!
I used a mix of river sand and this other material similar to pumice rock, wich is very light and porous, so I guess it absorbs water well. no organic material in the germination medium to avoid fungus... didnt use any fungicide at all... I want to keep these babies organic
So look at my container does it seem ok??? the condensation is OK??

I put them to germinate on 21/03/2011 and only one seed has begun to grow, is this normal?? how much should I have to wait before others start?? its been only ten days, but i would have liked to see more activity... hehe If you look closely you can notice the ungerminated seeds around, should I mist more?

I live in mexico and temps range from 65° to 90° kinda hot... I have them just by the window...
tell me what you think... thanks everyone
sharing the love of the plants

mescalito seeds? peyote, right?
anyways thats okay for right now.
i planted some el oso locale and texana variety. 8 days approximately and too many to count.
how many seeds did you plant? i planted 100 of each and a very good percentage of they germinated.
what are your germ temps? if you got them by the window they should be fine. and more will come up.
i give up on anymore coming up after 3 weeks to a month. but stranger things have happened.

ahh they were fresh. well thats even better.
you shoulda had more though.
90° might be a little to high. i think 85° max. just give it more time. thats all i can say.

is it normal for the seedling to be kinda elongated?? its not completely round as other seedlings I have seen.... I dont know about freshness of the seeds... i got them from seedpods of some peyotes harvested wild in the desert, maybe they had a lot of time hanging there in their crown??
can i mist the tray with a little more water for more humidity?

Slight elongation is okay and nothing to worry about.
Seedling growth depends highly on light intensity and growth can change rapidly. They can be perfect little round balls one day and elongated two days later. I notice that the seedlings nearest to the edge of a pot elongate more than those in the middle unless directly under lights.
Your slight high temperatures may be leading to growth that is too quick for your light source.

Do cacti need air? I usually make holes in lids when I germinate seeds, but then again, I've never worked with cacti before. Good luck!
-------------------- In ancient times, when demons roamed with man, They hunted, loved and lost, hand in hand, As time went on, the difference between them faded. You couldn't tell anymore, demons and man were related, and some would say the same, but who would like to claim? In time, Gods had even forgot, Demons, too, once love had sought. In times recent I remember, Once I was a man, In my heart I had an ember, I'll relate the best I can but it was snuffed, one distant December. And yet here I stand, no flesh, no bones, no seed or semen, All that's left is this Demon.

I'd say at least once a day. you'd also poke some holes or leave your cap loose so that air can circulate, of course don't let soil dry out.

Yes, you can mist the seedlings if you find it's necessary. Just don't drown them.

Cool!
The Red colour could be from too much light but they'll adjust and the colour should turn to Green in the coming weeks.
That first one looks like it may need more light but just leave them where you've had them for now and in a few weeks post a picture and we'll be able to determine if more light is needed.
