Colonized Substrate questions (with Pics)

Just had a few questions about this grow. It's colonized rye spawned to horse poo with a 1:1 ratio. Has looked like this (appears to be fully colonized, at least on the outer surface) for almost 2 weeks now. I don't see any knots forming yet. I introduced the FAE 5 days ago by fanning it a couple of times a day and exposing it to light. Anything else I should be doing which would speed the process along? I am anxious to see how much longer it will take until pins form. Thanks for the help!

P.S. Substrate depth is only roughly 2.5 inches deep, maybe this is why it's taking a while for pins to form? Just a thought.

that substrate is definately ready to be fruited, just give it time, sometimes it takes longer then others...you say you're fanning, are you misting as well?
do you have any holes for FAE in the tub?

Haha, well right now I'm doing it pretty unorthodox which may be why it's taking some time. I have it covered with saran wrap to keep the humidity, and remove it for a couple of hours to fan it 2 times a day.

From the look of the photo, it seems that the sub is shrinking and has pulled away from the sides - is this the case?
Biologys asked if you had been misting - maybe the sub has too little moisture to support fruiting.
Hope you figure it out.

It definitely has pulled away from the sides. And no I have not been misting but maybe I should, I'm just worried about over misting and causing too much water buildup. I'm fairly new to all of this.

It was just something I noticed. Wait for someone with experience to come along and give advice. I'm guessing you may be advised to dunk it.

you shouldn't have to dunk prior to your first flush..just mist it down good a few times, not too much as you want the water to soak in and evaporate with in an hour or two..
I myself mist my monotub's atleast once a day, and fan afterwards, sometimes twice...
