I've read a few times that myc. cannot survive more that 48 hours in water. I don't know for sure, though...trying for another flush couldn't hurt.

the dunk tek on mycotopia.net says that 48hrs underwater kills the myc.  :frown:

but give it a try, who knows what could happen.

Well, he wasn't dunking between flushes.. it was the initial flush dunk :frown: so if they are dead.. that's 3 jars wasted... anyway... they are beginning to pimple in the terrarium... lets pray :frown: Shouldn't hurt to leave them in there, right?

Well all, i can't believe it.  After a while of sitting in the terrarium and getting pimply as hell, one of my friends cakes has a fucking pin on it.  This mycelium lived through a 7 day coldshock/dunk..... wow .  Too bad it came free as "myster strain" so he doesn't know what type of mushroom it is.  How can this  be explained?

"If God were to permit you a brief voyage into the divine process, let you whirl for a second into the atomic nucleus or spin you out on a light-year trip through the galaxies, how on earth would you describe what you saw when you got back, breathless, to your office?  This metaphor may sound farfetched or irrelevant, but just ask someone who has taken a heavy dose of LSD." -- Timothy Leary, The Politics of Ecstasy.

I've been living a lie. Seriously, that's pretty cool. If anyone knows why it's thought that myc. dies after 48 hrs in water, I'd be interested in reading about it. Thanks.

All that the fella did was set the colonized cake back in the same jar it was colonized in and filled it with water. I bet he couldnt put enough water in the jar to drown out the cakes and so they just absorbed it all. I am probably wrong as hell so dont mind me.

I'm sure you're right. It would just be something new in terms of what I've learned so far, so, = interesting. I'd still like to know how something that lives inside of poop, with very little air, could die after 48 hrs underwater.

why would water kill the mycelium?
After all, there are techniques of liquid mycelium
Perhaps the chlorine in the water might kill it. Unless I'm missing something here.

Well, believe this.. the jars were submerged in water for 7 days.. it didn't absorb all of the water.. he still had to pour pleanty out... but who knows.. they are pinning.. that is all i care about

Yeah its time to stop asking questions and just be happy that it worked. You are one lucky fellah and maybe this post will help alot of people. For instance, people forgetful like yourself (no offense). Everyone reads that after 48 hours the myc will die. Well, maybe now they wont just throw them out and will actually try to do something with them.

Just an update.. these 3 jars are fruiting better than any of my friends other jars. This is amazing.

This isn't so cool.  Well, it is.. anyway.. here is the problem.  These cakes are fruiting like CRAZY... but when my friend ordered his spores, they sent the ones that he ordered and also sent a free syringe called "Mystery strain"... anyway... these mushrooms are so meaty and beautiful... and they are fruiting like crazy... but my friend has no idea what strain these are... so now he has to figure out if this long dunking period has caused these awesome results.. or if this strain is just awesome..I never realized so many shrooms could come off of a cake..

Well, 1st flush from 3 cakes == 7 dry grams.  It's so ironic, i made a post earlier about how i was disappointed with my friends first PF grow.. i wanted to know how to increase potency.  These super cakes that survived 7 days in the fridge coldshock... these were the most potent shrooms i've ever taken.  3g's dried had me flying.. CEV's OEV's complete mindfuck.. it was awesome.  I learned once again to respect the mighty mushroom.  What a night   Oh well everyone.. i guess the moral of the story is... Mycelium won't die in 48 hours.. have fun all
