AA921 PC troubleshooting
    #14225879 - 04/02/11 12:46 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

My first attempt at using my newly acquired PC failed.  The PC lost its seal (no kaboom) and could not get over 10PSI.  I emailed tech support at All American and got a prompt, thorough reply which I am posting here.  My only advice to PC noobs ========== try it with just water first.  This was sent from a Plant Supervisor/Sales Support employee:

The back view looks like the cover is almost completely down to the bottom. I'll provide instructions on how I seal the cover.
When lubricating the seat the instructions state to lubricate the bottom only and I would like you to cover the entire beveled or angled surface at the top of the inside of the bottom with olive oil. Before doing so please completely clean of all of the old lubrication first and then buff the seats on both the cover and the bottom with .000 steel wool or a scotch brite pad. Then I would like you to test the canner with just water.
Apply the olive oil to the bottom only like I described above. Pour 2 inches of water in the bottom. Put the cover on and line up the openings in the cover so the wing nuts can come up. Only bring 2 up at a time opposite each other. When doing your first 2 tighten them down and at that point look and see if there is a even gap under the two wing nuts you tightened. If there is not I would like you to tighten the side that's high and loosen the side that is low at the same time until the gap is even. Remember the wing nuts are snug while you are doing this. Do the same thing with the second set as the cover will still move. Once you have the first 4 in place then just bring up the last 2 and tighten them down. Then what I do is go around one more time to each wing nut and see if there is any more room for snugging them down. Put the canner on the burner and bring up to pressure with the weight on the 15 pound setting. Let cool naturally like you would when canning and see if the cover removes easily. Thank you for purchasing one of our All American Pressure Cookers. If you have any more questions or problems feel free to call or mail me.
