cool mist inside mini-greenhouse timing

Is it really important to keep my cool mist in my mini-greenhouse on some sort of timer? and is it important to cut slits in the side... I have been leaving the bottom flap open and it seems to be getting plenty of FAE... I spray twice a day, morning and night. I also have a SGFC with to many holes in the bottom elevated about an inch. I've been running it 24/7 and everything seems fine.
any suggestions?

Timing is critical. I had a crappy timer that only had 15-minute intervals. I ran a coolmist inside my greenhouse for 15 minutes of every hour and was always walking the line between misting my trays and completely flooding and destroying the casing layer.
I don't know about cutting slits in the greenhouse. That's a modification that you can't exactly take back. If your grows aren't showing any signs of needing more fresh air exchange, then you may not want to go all willynilly with your scalpel.
I actually did cut one hole in my greenhouse to get more fresh air, though. See this thread: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14192271

you want the cakes to dry out a bit between misting, thats one of the best pinning triggers...

I have my humidifiers timed to around 3-4 minutes on, 2-3 minutes off and only a small portion of the shelf directly above the humidifier's output gets overly wet, which is pretty much unavoidable. But if you're running it 24/7 without flooding your tubs or cakes then

What about tape?
I have 1" square holes cut all over the greenhouse cover, rather than a bunch of slits. 8 per tier (3 on each side, 2 in the front, at each tier), and 4 more on the top. If it's not filled up with a bunch of trays, I'll tape up a few of the holes to maintain a nice level of humidity. Gorilla tape works great, super heavy duty, transparent, and pretty darn water resistant.
Ideally, you really want the absolute most amount of fresh air without sacrificing humidity. So I consider holes or slits mandatory.

Shorter cycles are better than longer ones, so something like 5 on, 5 off would be better. But that may work though. You really just gotta play with it to really tune it in.

I have my zippers open pretty far and it is keeping a nice humidity and if i slip my hand in there I can feel plenty of air movement... I think I may just go 24/7 I have to leave for a night thats why I'm so worried.
thanks -oop

Gorilla tape is awesome. The adhesive is so strong though, that I found it difficult to remove the tape without stretching and possibly tearing the holes.
I agree that something needs to be done to introduce fresh air beyond just leaving the door open, and that's why I piped the coolmist intake out of the greenhouse. My grows were successful, and my greenhouse still works for starting my vegetables in the winter without having ugly gorilla bandages all over it.
To each his own I guess.
