drying chamber
    #14217379 - 03/31/11 09:21 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

Do u think nylon stockings would work to keep mush off the damp rid instead of chicken wire or would it be better to put damp rid in a lil bowl inside my rubbermaid and lay the mush on the bottom?

Keep damp things away from what you want to dry...

Use a fan and something that will hold the mush it'll be dry in 24 hours.

Not near anything damp. Im just worried that my rubbermaid may pull in moisture from the air since
the lids not exactly airtight. Anyone use a rubbermaid for drying?

if the lid was airtight or anywhere near it, the moisture released from the mushrooms would up the humidity in the container and make rotting even more likely

I've dried Ps. cyans on a paper towel with no air current, and they turned out fine. it just took a lot longer than I'd prefer. haven't tried with any other sp. though

just get a fan or dehydrator

My method of drying involves two ziploc plastic containers nested together. The inside one has about a hundred tiny holes melted in the bottom with a pin. The bottom one holds the Damp Rid. I put my shrooms in front of a fan for about a day, that pulls out the majority of the moisture. Then I throw them in my desiccant chamber, and they are cracker dry in a day or two.
