The stumpy ones come from a genetic trait. You have to grow out MS and clone for it.

or you can isolate a bunch of rhizo plates then label them, grow them out and look for the trait. Then go back to the master that produced that trait.

The latter is a lot more of a pain though.

Yea, it isn't all too common with the strain. Thats why it is fucked up that he markets it that way.

I dunno, what did it look like?  You mean this guy?

Hey, I did a whole trip animation thing with him but unless I become a supporter (which I keep forgetting to do) I can't fit it in my avatar space, but dig anyway:

:peace:PS

Oh yeah, on bulk I got more normal fruits although still bottom heavy:

The strain that made the hobbit fruits was not as productive as I might like and it would sit there forever before actually fruiting, with primordia everywhere (you can see that above).  But the fruits were awesomely strong, and they blued instantly (sorry no pics on that).  I couldn't get rhizomorphic myc either, still working on that.  I'd love to have fast growing potent hobbit shrooms that had a timescale more like normal.

I have a question about Golden Teacher strain/race. I am wondering, from colonization to fruiting, would it take more than 9 weeks at 70+ F? For fruiting I would ensure there is 75+ F temperature but it's too much money on the electric bill to do the same for the first 3 weeks (it's a cold room). I am attempting to grow it BRF tek in half-pint short jars.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I have a family reunion to go to on the west coast and don't want to leave the beauties unattended for a week or more.

Thanks!

:peace:

70 degree's is fine, I colonize my jars at 70-73 and fruit in 65 degree temp's, and have fruits with in 2 weeks of introducing fruiting conditions

so ya figure 30 days for your jars to colonize, maybe less...1 week consolidation period, then 1-2 weeks fruiting and you'll have fruits in less then 9 weeks I do believe.

There are some energy efficient ways of introducing some warmth...
Search "Heat Bomb" or "Tub in Tub" to get started. A heat bomb can give a small, semi-enclosed area +10*F for under 20 bucks and 20 mins time. My buddy has used one for years and swears by it...

yeah but I'm doing SGFC and I actually got the bottle and heater then returned it. it fluctuates way too much. tub in tub would be more beneficial but even that technique is not beneficial from my experience (not with growing but checking the temp and how often it fluctuates and if it even works). i have a tower heater which gets the room to 75 degrees quick and keeps it there if i leave the rooms door closed. it knocks down humidity by 20rh (from the usual 50%) but i figure if i leave a cool mist humidifier or even a warm one it will do the trick.

i'm pretty set on conditions, i even have this reptile sprayer i got from petco that works like the ones in grocery stores that mist the veggies ($4). got a spare plexiglass to fan with, got timers for lights (12/12), got the chamber set up, jars get here tomorrow and syringe either tomorrow or saturday. got the tape, got the ingredients, only thing i may need more of is perlite but even then i think i am set.

anyways, thanks a lot guys. much appreciated. this forum/community is very helpful. long live shroomery.

Man, I feel the love.  New moderators really setting the standard.

On a more worthwhile note, What is the deal with Puerto Ricans?  Very particular fruiting standards, tips anyone?
