Dunno, but I'm interested to hear about this too. I'm moving to CA soon and I'll definitely need a medical card, but there's a good chance I could get tested at work....especially for workman's comp if I get hurt.

i think one of the things u have to beware of (if not already) is the stigma behind MJ even though an employer may be required by law to disregard your medicine they may find some excuse to fire o not hire
alot of people still view weed like crack and the like

An employer does not have to accept an MMJ prescription as justification for a failed drug test. In other words, if you get drug tested for pot and fail legally (statewise at least), your employer still has the right to fire you.
That's how I understand it at least from the Googling I did a while back.
I don't think it matters, but this was from the perspective of California.

Wait....that doesn't make sense. You could fail an opiate drug test if you were prescribed some opiates, but your prescription would clear you. Why wouldn't Marijuana be the same as long as it was within state laws?

Because companies are private and they can have their own laws basically.. they can do whatever they want and fire or not hire you for anything. as far as california is concerned it's still illegal under federal. no company is required by law to uphold or defend your right to cannabis. If a place tests, chances are they will care if you piss dirty.. medcard or not.

Really? That seems incredibly immoral.
Isn't there some law that requires jobs not discriminate against medical conditions? Equal Opportunity Employers? The state doesn't enforce this? That seems absolutely outrageous to me.

Yeah I guess. You should come here and do something about it. The place I work now doesn't test at all, but lots of places do pre-employment drug tests. I'm sure just as many don't care, but still. I'm sure some employers would consider the prescription thing, but it's up to them ultimately. Even with weed being practically legal there's still a stigma surrounding it
