yeah.. what are we looking at? did you apply a casing layer? if that is your substrate, then you have a looooong way to go.. well, not a long way, but if thats your sub, you should have alot more growth than that..

Alright, so here's the situation... After 10 days of incubation, I spotted cobweb mold. I went ahead and decided fruit. Perhaps an uninformed decision on my part? I don't know, I panicked and figured some fresh air would kill the mold. I also sprayed the sub with diluted peroxide.

I just can't seem to get it right. I trashed my last grow due to a bacterial infection. This one seems to be headed down that same road. The only bulk grow I had success with was my first one, to which I added a frosting layer, and that seemed to work.

One last thing to note- there was almost ZERO colonization- I'm baffled by this. I incubated that sucker at 75 degrees the entire time.

In the tub: A brick of coir, 2 quarts of verm, 2 quarts of water, 1 cup of spent coffee grinds, 1 cup of gypsum, 5 quarts of WBS

I'll upload some pics very soon. In the meantime please feel free to chime in.

That 4 quarts of water that you need.

Perhaps it explains the no growth.... lack of water

You're looking at the sub and spawn, there is no casing layer.

To the guy who mentioned needing 4 quarts of water... you're right! I looked back at the tek and sure enough it says 4.5 quarts of water, but for some retarded fucking reason I only added 2 quarts :mad2:

This blows. So what to do? I don't want to just trash it. Keep incubating or fruit? Even if I get a single pathetic cube at least I won't feel like all my efforts were wasted.

There's just no way that those grains wouldn't have vegetated by now unless the thing were dead.

What's it smell like?

ah.. since thats the sub, and its not colonizing by now, toss it and start over.. dont waste your time by trying to save it..

Those patches of mycelium are growing. It's not like the whole tub stalled. There's actual growth going on. But the coir does smell a bit sour.

Those patches are just as doomed as the rest of the tub. It's garbage.

Where do you fruit and colonize? Have you thought maybe you have mold spores from previous contamed grows? Do you have cloths around or anything that may harbor previous mold spores that might be getting into your area> I suggest vacuuming, lysoling, removed any cloths in the area, wash blankets, sheets, pillow cases, etc. I hope this may help for future grows.
Good luck!

Hey velvetmagician, Every time I thought I had a contam, it turned out to be mycelium. I have a carbon scrubber with a hepa filter running 18 hours a day in my grow room, so I doubt it. This stalled grow was my own doing- I didn't add enough water as recommended by the tek.

But hey man, giving up is too easy. I've got nothing else going on right now, so knowing that there aren't any contams and against the advice of others to trash the grow, I'm going to try to suck a few grams out of this thing. I have nothing to lose, so fuck it.

***EDIT***
On second thought... Just took a whiff of that tub and it smells like Satan's breath... so I don't know :crazy2:

Agreed. Are you getting correct field capacity prior to pc on casing? are you giving gas exchange holes during colonizing casing?

Sure- I use lids stuffed with polyfill for gas exchange. Not sure what you mean by the other question.

when mixing your verm/coir you want perfect moisture. if you put up casing during prep, when your mixing it, pick up in your hand. no water should come out by gravity. But you if slightly squeeze it, you should get a few drops then it should stop. If you squeeze hard, you should get a small stream of water for a few seconds then stop. Thats perfect moisture. Also, is your substrate fully colonized before adding casing? Are you layering or mixing coir/verm/sub?

If your sub is not fully colonized you may get contams when introducing casing

One more question- Been incubating for 11 days now, and as you can tell from the picture, there's barely any consolidation. There are 4 or 5 of these blobs of mycelium scattered around in a 67qt tub.

Put it into fruiting or continue incubating?

nm, I wouldn't throw it away.

you never know!

It's too late, I thrashed it. I didn't realize how foul smelling it was until I removed the lid. It's whatever man. Like I said, it was my fault for not double-checking the tek amounts. Believe me, I won't make that mistake again. Nothing like a bit of failure to set you on the right track.

As I'm writing this, I have some PF tek jars going in the PC and another 9 quarts of WBS incubating away: two grows to keep me busy for the month of April.
