it would have to be possible to pick up any item for each class, otherwise the system wouldn't make sense. drops drop only for that specific player, so even if you are given an off class item, and you try to quickly switch to a mule of the given class to pick the item, then you would no longer be able to see it as you weren't the character it originally dropped for.
furthermore, they said, first drops are for tha tplayer only, once that player picks it up and re-drops it, then all players can see it, so again, it wouldn't make sense that players can only pick up certain items, because then they wouldn't even be able to re-drop them for their allies in the game.
i'm almost certain that players will be able to pick up any and every item that drops. otherwise the system wouldn't make sense in my opinion.

It has been clearly and plainly stated that this is how it'll work. It'll drop items of value for each player of all class relevance, so you have motivation to cooperate and trade. Meanwhile, you completely diffuse the shittyness of item hoarding. Also, you can always trade items to another character in a number of possibly dubious/not dubious ways.

Deekay said: Take this to 's this thread is NOT about Starcraft!
As for Diablo III, I think I'm going to have a hard time dealing without teleport. Also, this new loot system makes sense to me, but if a non-class item drops in a game with just myself will I be able to loot it? Or will I need to MF with a particular class to receive certain drops?
Also, I'm bummed about world pvp being removed, but with teleport gone it will make arenas more exciting.
Starcraft is directly relevant to the development of this game as they were developed in parallel and Battlenet is common to both games. Stuff they're doing in SCII will probably carry to D3 and vice verse where applicable.
