ok well ive come to a conclusion I need to slow my adhd ass down, breathe and do this right. Ive thrown away the wild bird food and will be getting wild bird seed tonight along with some polyfill. I will not be using the tyvek unless some of the experts think I would really be better off waiting. Also I bought another tub so there will be 9 fc's. guess on yield if everything goes pretts well? Will be purchasing enough hay to mix with the compost to fill all 9 tubs up to 4 inches with sub. and using 24 quarts filled halfway of wbs spawn. Hoping for a couple pounds if you think thats crazy please tell me.

Ok guys got the pollyfill and got new bird seed without corn. It was quite pricey at 10 dollars for 10 pounds! Im planning on pressure cooking tonight and was wondering what everybody thinks about pressure cooking with the pollyfill in place or waiting till I was done. Ive read alot of conflicting points of view and thought maybe it should be discussed a little further. Also im planning on making to holes in each lid a little bigger than 1/4 inch. Do you think 3 would be better?

Dude 10 bucks for 10 lbs is not that bad Could get it cheaper tho.
Put the poly in your lids and then PC. Dont PC your jars before you put the poly in.
2 holes in your lid is just fine. What are you doing with both the holes? I recommend poly in one for GE and some silicone in the other for an injection port.

? Whoa there buddy, kick back. If your grain has been sitting out all night drying I'm fairly certain it's dry enough. Have you tried any of the "tests" yet? (ie, see if they stick to a spoon, or scoop a handful then drop them and see if they clump, or dab them with a paper towel and see if there's any moisture on said paper towel?) It's not fucking rocket science.
If you've left them in the strainer and they're still wet then, next time, perhaps lay them out on newspaper in a cookie sheet or something. Letting them just sit in a strainer/colander is gonna lead to uneven drying unless you turn the grain yo. The top will dry much faster as the moisture falls to the bottom of the strainer.
No one is gonna hold your hand, especially on such a simple step where the info is readily available in about 5-10 reputable teks, so long as you search for it.

I'm by no means knowledgeable but from what i've read if you over soaked your WBS you can put it in the oven briefly (15-20ish min?) to dry it a lil bit. Or the hair dryer method too...
I'd be willing to bet you can find a thread here with someone running into the same problem, and someone posting their solution.

for the record, the WBS with corn is perfectly fine, I get 50 lbs for 9 bucks, and love the performance...
as far as straining after the simmer, I myself let it sit for about 1.5 hours, stirring every 15 minutes or so allow more steam to come thru the grains, helping to dry the outside..
if after that time they still feel alittle too wet, i'll pour them out onto a towel, and take anothe towel and run across them for a few minutes, then load in jars and sterilize...

someone ive been talkin to says he has better luck with compost when he puts them in a tad bid earlier so I tried this with a few of my smaller containers just to test it out. they are actually more colonized than it looks in the pics
