Hey hows it goin everybody? Figured ide make my first post on Shroomery my grow journal. Ive been using WONDERFUl white fluff, and needlepoint grade lsd for a while now and want to switch it up with some good ol psilo. I had a succesful pf cake grow in the past as well as very rewarding cannabis grows so im hoping with everyones help ill be ok with this adventure.
SO!, in my fridge sits 10 pounds High Mountain compost, and 4 10cc syringes(ecuador strain cubes)
In my room sits (5) 13 gallon clear storage totes, and (3) slightly smaller totes. Both styles of totes that I have are about 12 in. tall.
I will be using wbs, with cracked corn as spawn, which is soaking right now. (de-sunflowered, and thouroughly rinsed)
I will be pressure cooking 18-24 quart jars tomorrow.
I will be purchasing straw (that I will pasturize) to mix with the compost becuase I dont think the 10 pounds of compost is gonna be enough for 2-3 inches for all 8 totes.
I will be casing with vermiculite.
My main question right now is whether the casing layer is gonna supply enough humidity on its own? I have done alot of research on this but dont seem to get a for sure answer. I purchased the 12 inch tall totes thinking that once I line with substrate and case there wouldent be much space to humidify and the casing would be sufficient? I still dont completely understand the casing-humidity, and misting aspect of this completely.
thanks for viewing, all comments welcome.
p.s. Pics in a few days

You dont need casing for cubes. All your problems are now solved.

thanks for the reply but if I can I would like to use the entire bottom of the totes for more grow space without having to use smaller trays on top of perlite. I would be using the Casing layer to provide humidity for the remaining 8.5 inches of grow space in the totes.

ok will go with 4 then, thx. I will post much pictures of all 8 setups. So just to clarify even with the substrate covered with mycelium it will still release enough moisture in the air correct? Sorry if im seeming really slow its just that ive been stressing about this for awhile now and im loving that its gonna be this easy.

yeah if you're using a monotub then it'll produce its own humidity...I still mist and fan my monotub's 1-2 times a day...but you dont have to.

wow just noticed something I have purchased wild bird food instead of seed it contains grain products, calcium carbonate, white millet, and black oil sunlower seeds. (which are removed) theres cracked corn in it as well which I plan to simmer off the sludge. Will this "wild bird food" work?

Dude polyfil is a few dollars a bag. But you need to keep your lids covered since your gonna have open holes (that will allow contams to easily sneak in there) Goodluck
