Beginning Yoga
    #14216468 - 03/31/11 06:42 PM (12 years, 10 months ago)

I've been extremely interested in Yoga and meditation recently. I've been trying to practice meditation everyday, but I'm still having the trouble of clearing my mind. I also can barely sit in half-lotus, so I'm guessing yoga would help with that. There is a class that I'll be able to take, but I'm not able to start it for another few months. I'm curious if there's any recommended videos, books, audio, or anything that may help start me off!

Thanks!

I started with a video called Warrior workout - Kundalini w Ana and Ravi. Ive seen and tried quite a few other yoga workouts and this is the one I still do the most. Like any new workout, it may take a little getting used to. 2-3 months ago I did the video for the first time and thought I wouldn't be able to do it more than once, maybe twice a week... But after 2-3 weeks I was doing it almost every day.

Yoga is life-changing:thumbup:

I'm interested in beginning a Yoga routine as well. If anyone could list some good Yoga DVDs that would be great!

I would recommend the same people who did the warrior workout...Kundalini w Ana and Ravi. The other one I dont know too much about but its good, its called 'Heart Flow Vinyasa - Ishwari Gonnot'.  You can find em both on amazon

I recently started practicing yoga regularly, about 4 months ago, and it has been really beneficial to my overall well being.

My best advice is to try lots of different teachers and videos and find what resonates with you.  Don't be lazy, but don't be too hard on yourself either.

I would also recommend finding some good teachers and taking classes as often as you can, since videos won't give you things like pose modifications, real coaching, and personalized tips like a good teacher will.  And if you're spiritual, I think you will find practicing yoga with a teacher and others feels great, while building your OWN practice alone.

Good luck and Namaste!
