"Fahrenheit 911"
    #1421531 - 04/01/03 12:12 PM (21 years, 20 days ago)

YES!

Michael Moore is becoming more and more God-like in my eyes. Here's something I read from www.rightwingslayer.com

Quote:

Michael Moore Isn't Through With George W. Bush. Not By A Long Shot!

New Moore Film, 'Fahrenheit 911,' Will Expose Bush Administration's Complicity For 9/11!

Controversial and Oscar winning film director Michael Moore is no fan of
republicans or democrats, but he thinks he has the goods on George W.
Bush and will present them for the world to see in his new film "Fahrenheit
911." Adding insult to injury, the film is scheduled for release just as
election 2004 kicks into high gear!

Variety online is reporting the filmmaker is working a deal with actor Mel
Gibson's production company to finance the film, a documentary that will
trace the roots of terrorism against the United States. Moore will also spell
out dealings between two generations of the Bush and bin Laden families.

"The primary thrust of the new film is what has happened to the country since Sept. 11, and how the Bush
administration used this tragic event to push its agenda," Moore said in the Variety report.

Moore said the film "certainly does deal with the Bush and bin Laden ties," and "asks a number of questions
that I don't have the answers to yet, but which I intend to find out." The trade paper said Moore has done
research for the film for a year.

Moore plans to release "Fahrenheit 911" in time for France's Cannes Film Festival in 2004 -- a release timed
before the presidential election that fall.

Moore's latest book, Stupid White Men, currently sits atop The New York Time's best sellers list and is the best
selling non-fiction book this year. However, the book was almost never released.

After 9/11, the book's publisher, HarperCollins, was pondering whether the book might be "too offensive" to
those who supported George W. Bush. Moore was told that unless he re-wrote large sections of the book
(sections mostly dealing with criticisms of Bush), change the title cover, and reimburse the publisher of up to
$100,000 so the new version could be reprinted, the HarperCollins would destroy the ENTIRE run of 50,000
copies that had already been printed and he would have to wait over a year to shop the book to other
publishers.

Fortunately a group of librarians organized a letter-writing campaign to HarperCollins and, after weighing all
their options, decided to release the book unchanged and uncensored on Tuesday, February 19th, 2002.

Though Moore was met with little resistance in filming his Oscar winning documentary "Bowling For
Columbine," which also took swipes at the American conservative agenda, the information that 'Fahrenheit
911' will potentially present could set off a political firestorm in Washington - touching both republicans and
democrats - but perhaps causing irreparable harm to republicans in particular.

Rosie O`Donnell + Tom Green = Michael Moore. And he kinda remindes me of The Family Guy's Peter Griffin.

I like Moore, and it's going to be nice to see him kick up some dust during the elections.

Moore said the film "certainly does deal with the Bush and bin Laden ties," and "asks a number of questions
that I don't have the answers to yet, but which I intend to fabricate the answers for soon, just like I did in my other movies. After all, why let facts stand in the way."

As long as he doesn't try and call it a documentary again.

i read some thing about how Bowling was full of lies and stuff, the best point they made was that when showing clips of Charlton Heston speaking, he used clips from one NRA meeting, then clips from another NRA meeting like a month previous, and somehow insinuated that tehy were from the same meeting?

yeah it really was *that* lame. but hey, at least they're trying :-)

Before you pass judgement on Michael Moore, watch the movie "Roger and Me" I saw it as a kid and it changed my outlook on things forever.

You can call him a muckraker, you can call him a whiner, you can call him what you will. But just remember, the reason why we don't lock up schizophrenics in dank, unlit pits, chain them up, and beat them is because of people like him. The reason why you don't have to eat human thumbs in your hot dogs is because of the same reason.

You have every right to disagree with him, but you can't just minimise his arguments by using personal attacks on him. Besides, he did admit that "Bowling for Columbine" was intended more to entertain than to actually inform. I think there is plenty of good insight in that movie. After all, when you have Charlton Heston himself saying that America's murder rate can be attributed to the fact that it has "more ethnicities" than other countries, the rest doesn't seem to be that big of a stretch.

Anyways, the point is: The movies he makes are funny, and the arguments he makes are reasonable and they should be at least given some credit.

michael moore will either mysteriously disappear, die from a sudden heart attack or stroke, or be killed in a car accident, very soon.

i'm guessing heart attack. it will be the least suspicious.

That's some funny. I havn't seen Bowling for Colombine but definately will.

Yeah, Micheal Moore is great. Roger and Me was quite bold. It's not a huge stretch to calling it a pre-amble to a socialist manifesto almost, kind of.

In any case it illuminated the wide gulf in social classes that laissez faire economics produces, without actually saying so.

I also liked the theme of economic desperation leading to crime.

I'd like to know the details of Flint's tourism investment's that (of course), didn't work. Was it another example of public funds going to lucrative contracts for rich corporations?

Now his new movie is coming out around the 2004 presidential election? I love it! Movies have a big enough influence on the (North)American psyche that it may actually make a difference. I hope. The guy is hard to ignore.
