Can spores gone bad still colonize properly but fruit poorly?

So I'm wondering... if cakes colonize properly (perhaps quickly even) in a normal fashion, could it still be possible that the spores have gone bad and then result in a poor yield? Or would the spores not work or show poor results at the colonization stage?
Also, is room temperature a reasonable storage condition for spores, let's just say even for a mere 6 months? Just for argument's sake...

Poor yields depend more on the growing parameter's, the sub and of cause the genetics. If they germinate, they will perform like they would do, on the day you made the print.

Stop worrying. Put your jars away and go smoke a bowl.

That's what I was thinking myself...
Because conditions (IMHO, as far as I can tell at least) are virtually identical... colonization was fine or better, but the harvest is exceptionally poor

Guess it's just luck then. Which is what I was leaning towards...

I don't have any such bowl unfortunately
