Fruiting in Jars?

Ok, so on a previous post I stated that the bottom of my jars wont colonize (or so it seems). Or at least haven't yet. Someone gave me an idea to just fruit them from the jars. Can someone give me the steps to take to do this. I plan on waiting another week or so to just make sure they aren't going to cover the rest of the bottom. I tried the search engine and couldn't find anything really on "fruiting in jars". Can someone please give me a step in the right direction on this??

In my experience they will fruit automatically given some time within their optimal temperature range for fruiting.
If you keep them in an environment with optimal temperature and moisture, with the lids off and as low exposure to infectious microbes as possible. It should sort itself smoothly.
I can't back this up, but if you make sure light only enters from the top, cover the sides with aluminum foil or something, you could probably avoid the pins from forming on the sides. Then you should get dense flushes shooting up from the top of the jars.
This works nicely with my panaeolus cultures anyway, I'm not into cubensis so I can't promise anything :P

I've read, mind you I've never tried it, that when people do this they remove the dry verm barrier, dunk the cake, then stick it back in the jar to fruit.
Apparently this gives it more air, more room to grow, and makes it a little less messy.

Yeah, proper ventilation could be a problem, but if you have uncolonized material at the bottom, I would avoid exposing it to fresh air. In my short experience green mold always trash the party if gets a foothold. Considering mold is specialized in conquering carb and oxygen rich environments, I wouldn't take the risk.

Why not get rid of the un colonized part, dunk/roll, fruit in your SGFC for best results I think you would get better results taking it out of the jar to fruit.

So take it out of the jar, cut the bottom part off, dunk/roll and fruit?

Why not? Just give it a week like you said above and see if it colonizes. If not, remove that part and fruit like a normal cake. No need to keep it restricted in a jar to fruit.

My jars were the same way, give them some time. As soon as 1 jar covered the entire bottom I took them all out and just discarded the bottom uncolonized part, and actually they colonized the rest of the way while in my FC. and the extra time to consolidate is good. I have some mad pinsets going on right now, but I am using Pint cakes

I always use the tall jars with no problems You will be fine either way. Just give it a bit yet

Well it has only been about 3 1/2 weeks, so obviously it could use more time anyway. I used a marker and outlined the growth so I will know if and when it is growing.

I took the Foil off after I seen the first signs of growth, as for the tape I recently removed it when I noticed all but the bottoms were fully colonized. And the tape already had holes in it from inoculation .The growth looks good. I dont see any signs of Trich at all.

Ok because not removing the tape put me like a week or two behind schedule with how slow it made the growth, as soon as I removed it thought the mycelium literally gained a half inch on the cake overnight.
Keep up the good work bro and you'll be seeing the fruits of your labor soon!
