Either way, you haven't provided refutation and are essentially ducking out of the debate.

Since nobody (even you) responded to my original address to the heart of your question, I'll repeat it: I think that at one time in our evolutionary history, we experienced a continuous passion unbroken by hesitations stemming from the lessons we've learned from our past. Since that time, we have learned to control our passions, for better or for worse.

You're looking at it from a strange angle, my question was a present and pragmatic one,
about why there are differences between individuals, and why these differences exist, and which
type is more prevalent, or let's say which was there first.

You're saying that all people where initially born to excel and that we as a race lost it along the
way, sacrificing it to rationality? I don't think you must exclude rationality from passion,
passion is drive and enthusiasm, there is passion for science to...

I didn't say any of that.

I'm telling you that you'd get just as great a debate from drying paint, yes.

I don't think that rationality necessarily inhibits passion, but it can confine it, limit it, and even replace it as a survival mechanism.

The course taken by rationality is incumbent on personal and genetic history. I think that's just my way of saying, "some people get screwed."

Drying paint never responds and then ducks out. I think I'll stick with the paint.:thumbup:

Ducking out or not, I must admit that I deserved that.

Certainly not lacquer. You can cop a pretty great buzz off that shit.

well one needs to find personal value in life in order to truly have the drive to live, imo. some of us haven't found any, or just not looking. so, in my eyes, everyone is technically "made" to excel since they have the intrinsic capacity to. it just depends individually upon each human being's personal values.

After three pages and a lot of big empty words this is the first good answer in this thread...

Actually pretty interesting point of view, and a very optimistic one at that, but then why
do some people not want to? Do you know people like that? They are just content with simply
living. I can't imagine that, maybe it's just, as you said, a thing about personal values,
maybe they're passionate about having a normal life, like their parents and grandparents
before them...
