(sigh) ok...where do I start?
First what is should be called is Marcel's regurgitated El Bulli.
Nothing on that show...NOTHING! is of his creation or discovery, it has all been done before and just because it's not served at Cheesecake Factory doesn't mean it hasn't been around for oh, a decade at least.
His dishes are amateur at best- clear rip offs of either Adria or Achatz. Also a lot of incorrect terminology used ie: " while the gelatin is setting," in that case what he should have said is "blooming" as he was clearly soaking the leaves before adding to a hot liquid, that's just one example.
Also you have to wonder how much they really cared for your success as a tv star when they put your show on Syfy channel. I give it one season if that.

thank goodness, get that garbage off the air.
why don't they re start the "Great Chefs" series on Discovery and go to places like El cellar, Arzak, or Noma and show these buffoons how you really do it.
Great Chefs btw, all time greatest cooking show.

On the contrary, I think his knack for inspiring dissension amongst the ranks added a hefty dose of drama that a lot of people who watch reality TV tend to be attracted to. It was kind of a love/hate thing for me, as I don't watch much TV to begin with, and being a bit of a foodie I sometimes got annoyed when certain episodes became all about how Marcel was pissing everyone else off. On the other hand, he sure was an interesting meltdown-case to watch; psychologically the guy clearly has some underlying issues, much of which appears to stem from a lack of self esteem that he attempts to cover up with a cocky, know-it-all obsessive-compulsive sort of attitude. In my opinion, he has a lot of work to do on himself if he wishes to forge more meaningful and lasting relationships with the people around him, which would ultimately help him become a more creative, focused and less self-sabotaging chef.

sure the drama that manifested itself thanks to the close quarter goodness top chef is known for, kinda why I stopped watching it, but asfor the man himself, I really don't enjoy watching him.

I wonder if he went back to working for Jose Andres?
He clearly needs to.
