What kind of mushroom is this?
    #14210783 - 03/30/11 05:26 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Is it active? I think it's in the pluteus genus maybe pluteus cervinus?. It has a white stem and white gills. I live in northern Florida. I found this growing at my neighborhood park in the wood chips.  Here's the link to the picture. It's on photo bucket. Please help me ID this. Thanks

Also, it's been raining for the past 2 days. It's in overcast now so I decided to take my dog for a walk and pick those mushrooms. What do you think they are?

Not Pluteus cervinus, nothing active.

That single, small photo of just the top of the caps is not good enough for an identification.

The stem and gills are pure white. The spore print is a brownish cocoa color.

And it doesn't have a veil and there wasn't a volva. It smells mushroomy and I tasted a tiny piece and spit it out and it tasted mild with no unique tastes.

Typically brown spored mushrooms have brown gills if they are mature enough that you are getting spore deposit from them...
Anyway, maybe a Tubaria, but I don't really know.  Take good photos next time.
