Large PF Tek Rocks...
    #14210126 - 03/30/11 03:27 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

About to expiriment with the making of these giant rocks... Inspired by Spongi's PF Block Tek

but of course... I like to do things my own way.. cuz I'm difficult. So for starters... here is my recipe. (making due with the supplies I have on hand...)

1 : 1/2 : 1/3 ||| Vermiculite : Millet Flour : Water

millet flour being ground up millet...

I also have gypsum that I got from my local brewery... but un-sure of how it would fit into the ratio... and I have a star bux right across the street for coffee grounds... but also unsure about ratios and what not...

My game plan as of right now is I'm currently making 2 Quarts of Millet Flour...

Then I will combine 4 Quarts Vermiculite with about a Quart and a Half of water... and then mix in the flour.

Loading them up into huge autoclavable(spelling?) bags I picked up offline then pressure cooking for 2 hours...

too much?

Open to suggestions... It'll take me some time to grind up this millet :P So I'll be checkin back in frequently!

Thanks

5% gypsum,

For the coffee I would say just brew a pot, drink it toss it or whatever and then run the water you are planning to use through the already used grounds, this way it isn't too strong and doesn't burn your cakes.....

You can put some coffee grounds in when you grind the millet.

Well to do that I would have to travel out to starbux... which I am feeling REALLY lazy... but on the other hand... Lazyness causes failure.

So I think I'm gonna go put on my shoes...

Opinion on how much coffee grounds to mix in given the ratios I'm using?

any opinion on adding gypsum? (I have about 1/4 - 1/2 on hand)

... I also have a shit ton of brown rice... Opinions on adding some BRF to the mix??

I dont have either... I really wanted to start a thread on 'materials/tools/supplies' where people could give their findings and opinions on what they use, where to find it, websites ect... and rate everything and what not for people to know what exactly to get...

Long story short, I invested in a Magic Bullet 2 years back... This thing is a fuckin CHAMP.

I would recommend it over any 'coffee grinder' or blender or whatever else

Just go with your easiest option,.

While you are at starbucks get a large coffee, when you get home pour it in a larger container.

Fill the cup 2 times with water and dump it in with the coffee. This will be a 3:1 water coffee ratio.

Use that in place of the water.

I wouldn't make an extra trip or spend extra money for coffee. Gypsum plus brf is great.

So you're suggesting to just use coffee water rather than mixing in spent grounds?

No, I am suggesting you use a "highly diluted coffee-water" so you don't over due it with the nutrients.

I'm with doc though, if you don't have any ..... KISS
