National Cancer Institute scrubs “anti-tumoral effect” of cannabinoids from website 4

You may recall last Wednesday when we pointed out this incredible paragraph on the website of the National Cancer Institute at cancer.gov, on their general information about medical cannabis, touting its antitumoral effects:
The potential benefits of medicinal Cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. In the practice of integrative oncology, the health care provider may recommend medicinal Cannabis not only for symptom management but also for its possible direct antitumor effect.
NCI apparently got a talking to from someone, because now that page has been scrubbed of any reference to the direct antitumoral effects of cannabis:
The potential benefits of medicinal Cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. Though no relevant surveys of practice patterns exist, it appears that physicians caring for cancer patients who prescribe medicinal Cannabis predominantly do so for symptom management.

Wow, thanks a lot for posting that.
There are plenty of studies to suggest a possible direct anti-tumor effect, but the big ups got to them. Can't let the people know that it can cure all your symptoms and the illness.
Drugs are bad, mmmk!
-------------------- "A human being is part of the whole, called by us 'Universe'; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest -- a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security." Albert Einstein

All you have to do is click "next section" a couple times and you get to this:
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/pdq/cam/cannabis/healthprofessional/page4
Still... it's pretty cynical that they would change the "[doctors] (...) may recommend (...) for (...) symptom management [and] anti-tumor effects" to "predominantly (prescribed) for symptom management" with no mention of the anti-tumor effects.

They probably took it down due to lack of evidence.
Even if you preface a statement with "possible effects", you can't make claims without data.
