If you have any, i want to see what they look like so i can have a better chance of finding them in the woods or fields, or whatever. pictures and descriptions are encouraged. I know that naming specific places is not a good idea, but please leave me the general area.

you're talking about thousands of species there (unless you're referring only to psychoactive species; in which case you're looking at about two dozen).
i suggest instead that you start doing your own research, and then we'll be more likely to be of help to you.
the exact - if not 100% complete - information you are looking here is already here at the shroomery, in the faq area just waiting for you. the rest of it is already here in the forums.

My mistake jaydog; look for the 'Mushroom Info' section, and the Hunting FAQ and such are in there.

Do a search of this forum... Find plenty of pictures
PNW is a huge area... With many climates... Know what grows in your area and when... Search habitates.... In the right time of year
Right now is a great time to find good searching areas for the season... Have dozens of places to check out this fall....

Make sure you know what you're looking for, since it's springtime. Do lots of research and find pictures. I got some pictures in my gallery as well, like Fryish. http://www.shroomery.org/8461/Which-psilocybin-mushrooms-grow-wild-in-my-area

I live in the lower mainland BC and I've been out looking but nothing has started growing yet. I think it will start in mid to late April when it gets warmer. This is my first season hunting as well.

Nice try. I for one am not too keen on playing someone's interactive field guide. Especially not if it means that I'll be doing 99.9% of the work. Hunting mushrooms requires putting some effort into it yourself, you know.
No offense, but your request comes across like "I am too stingy to buy a mushroom hunting field guide and too lazy to look up all the information that's already there, I'll just sit back and wait for them to spoon feed me everything".

I came across some mushrooms growing in a lawn today. I didn't have my camera with me, so I didn't get any pictures; but they're starting to pop up. I figure any sign of growth is a good sign.

This is one of my patches of psilocybe cyanescens i found in a main park and this was recorded almost on the center of the woodchip trail that alot of people walk their dogs on. Parks with woodchips layed out all over the place is a good deal in the falltime in the PNW
Matter of fact im walking back to the same park right now to look for some spring actives if there are any.....And yes those are volleyball nets in the end of the vid. This is a main park in a town.

wow thanks so much! except that one person who never graduated from preschool where all they learn how to do is share. so thanks for being a complete ass.
i really appreciate all the pictures, its hard to find specific photos, and the more i see of a species the more i can understand what it looks like and its habitats. i will continue to study mushrooms, and i will continue hunting for them. i wish all of you happy hunting and keep posting it is greatly appreciated!

when people can't be bothered to meet us half way I'm one of those people who aren't likely to spoon feed.
Google is your friend. The search button is your friend. The faq section is your friend.
I don't like taking my time to help people who don't show that they are trying, and if I'm going to do it I'm going to use that time to point them in a helpful direction. That's all it is. In fact, I'm removing the combative language from this post for that very reason.

Fry... Made me have milk shoot out my nose laughing
Actually dude... The 'non sharer' was right and we all probably thought the same thing he did... But we wanted to show off a pic or two!!!
Seriously... Several good mushroom societies in the area... join one... Get a book... Get out and hunt... In the fall....
Peace

ah well i believe i am misunderstood. this is a community for people to share and give a helping hand when needed, Ive been doing a large amount of searching on Google and found nothing to be quite as helpful as this thread has been. but in a way you are right, i saw the list of mushrooms in the states and i did a fair amount of reaserch on a few, but i have no clue if any of them are common or not. the area i want to search is the issaquah reagion. there are tons of forest and mountains. there are also plains. is there a certain altitude in which mushrooms do not grow? or certain temperature? all i ever see is warm and cold what the hell does that mean? warm to me is 70 degrees and humid to me is like 90 percent humidity. im starting from a blank slate (tabla rosa that thats right dropping knowledge) so pointing me in the right directions is very helpful!
THanks for your time and efforts!

Issaquah looks to be in pretty good proximity to Psilocybe pelliculosa habitat, so that will be a good place to start.
What information have you found so far on that species and on Psilocybe cyanescens?
If you haven't done so yet; searching the hunting forum for Issaquah and nearby towns (bellview, redmond, mirrormont, etc, and even smaller towns in the area) and for nearby general areas (lake washington, squak mountain, cougar mountain, west tiger mountain) will give you information on what people have been finding nearby for years, and checking the dates of the posts will tell you when. It's not as good as hanging out with somebody who has been hunting the area for years, but it's a good stepping off point.
I'm a bit rough around the edges, but I am here to help.

Issaquah is where I do most, if not all my hunting. It's few and far between for actives, and even harder not to get noticed by all the yuppies, so I will say "good luck". Maybe i'll run into ya sometime Just look for the blonde hair guy that never takes his eyes off the ground (I'm starting to get neck cramps ) I would point you in the right direction, but I don't like breaking rules. All I can say is "downtown" and don't waste your time with the plateau. Best of luck.

Thank you for the Issaquah incite. Ive been looking around so far is capital hill and mercer island. on capital hill i found some anamitas but not to into those, on MI i did find some cyencenes, but only a couple (pretty sure i raped the patch and i feel bad for it it was just on impulse) the soil the cyencenes were growing in whas almost black mulch, and it was the only place i actual saw soil like that. so i am wondering if they really only grow in the dark bark, or in lighter bark as well. I just bought a guide and its coming in the mail, but i fear the season is almost over.
