Uncased Ten Days w/no AE during colonization.
40% Spawn to 60% Substrate by weight.
I would NOT consider that fully colonized. For one thing, there are clearly spots of coir not even touched. In addition, the areas with mycelium are whispy at best.
I achieve full colonization in 7 days anyway. 10 days is lame.
Thanks for trying.

You must mean including yours.
Mine finished two days later with an even pinset.

Okay, you're clearly trying to provoke me, and aren't willing to take me seriously. What would be the point of making shit up? I'm not the one emotionally involved here.
I get full colonization in 7 days. Period. So does ProfessorPinHead, or anyone else who does what we say. Here's day 5, from a recent tub:

If you actually define "full colonization" as this, which is a picture of your substrate:

...then I guess I'm getting full colonization in 5 days.
The fact that you'd pull up a picture from over 4 years ago of mine when I was a new grower as evidence that I don't know what a fully colonized substrate is shows how far you're reaching to be disrespectful. By the way, THAT TUB CONTAMINATED FROM RESTRICTING GAS EXCHANGE. And it was a manure-based substrate that time.
Grow up, man. I'm putting you on ignore. Bad form.

Dude you are crazy, ..... or do you tape off your holes?
Why the fuck would we be make that shit up?.... all my tubs take 7 days sometimes less to hit 100%, then another 5 tops to pin.
You need to get into the loop.

i must say, the full colonization in 7 days is definately possibly
trying their method 2 monotub's were completely colonized in 8-9 days, and thats in 65 degree temps, so bump it up to 70-75 and I definately see full colonization in 7 days..
since it was my first time playing with APE the fruiting has left be pissed off, but I'll be spawning some TKS, and Creepers in the next few days, using polyfil stuffed tub's again to see if it cuts back on time before seeing pin's/pinset from normal taped up holes..

I have a bulk sub of coir that I had to birth as like a large cake for space requirements in my current FC. I'll have to take a pic of it for us to scrutinize - but it seems to me like it's a fairly solid mass, from memory.
Is it your experience that the 'wispy at best' scenario occurs in monotubs only?
Getting full/near-full colonization within 5 days is absolutely possible, especially if you're using a single isolate of a fast-performer. If you're using a bunch of MS jars, it's probably a little harder (although not impossible) to do unless your spawn ratio exceeds 1:4.
EDIT: typo.

as for coir, i've always used just coir/verm/gypsum and this was my first attempt at horse manure
and i have to agree with facey, all though i like the performance of coir, but it never seemed to fully colonize, compared to what the manure did
coir peform's fine, and is contam resistant, but it never appears fully colonized to me.

It is colonizing slowly, yeah. Probably due to high levels of CO2.
mono-shotgun-hybrids are a pain in the ass, I've heard from many people.
What was your spawn:bulk ratio again?
It's pretty well-ventilated; I don't think the CO2levels are high.
I would not be surprised if this is the first and last hybrid project. I'm already thinking I'm going to have to tape/poly some holes because it won't hold humidity. We'll see...
prefer 1:3, but this one is probably closer to 1:5

EDIT: typo.
From my experience, it doesn't matter how the coir is used; monotubs, large cakes, trays, etc. Just doesn't fully colonize, save for the very-most top upon occasion.
Oh, and I try to have my spawn:substrate ratio almost exactly at 1:4 - like, true ratios, not like "mushroom quarts" or whatever the duce people are using these days; a true quart of spawn per 4 true quarts of substrate. I spawn to my bulk substrate just like large_dose does here, although of course I'm using a manure-based substrate.
I just made up a series of tubs which do not have large amounts of spawn at the top of the bin, because I think the spawn is messing up the texture and ruining the pinset. They haven't been terrible, and I'm averaging about 7oz on the first flush, which isn't so bad, but I'd like to hit 8-9oz. That will require more appropriate genetics, and also dialing in my fruiting technique.
Anyway, this new method of spawning - which you can watch here: I did almost exactly that, only I mixed in the top layer of substrate a bit with the spawn layer underneath. It's sort of a cross betwixt layering and mixing.
Since this has less spawn on the top, it may take longer than 5-7 days to fully colonize. We'll see!

so when i make my mono tubs, i should: " stuff holes with polyfil before spawning to sub? " wrap the top with saran wrap? " use No bag and i should expose to 12/12 light durring colonization? Ive made several mono tubs before and had fair results with coir spawned from rye..But, nothing to be proud of. Plus, i had the holes taped up and had a black trash bag over my tubs durring colonization. So, im excited about trying "yall's" method..I want the results facey and professor P have managed to dial in on..lol i greatly respect you guy's.. For the knoledge/experience and the help.. this time im planning on using a clone with better genes than the last specimen..My substrate will be 60% horse poo and 20% coir 20% verm.. rather than just coir/verm.. if i dont have any poly bags, what is another good method to pasturize my manure ?

Paint strainer bags from the paint store or hardware store. They are a nice durable mesh and sized for 5 gallon buckets.
