PF tek cake recipes?
    #14207191 - 03/30/11 12:10 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

I've been using the standard BRF cake recipe for most of my ""baked goods" lol, but was wondering what some other variations to the recipe. I've read that adding raw peanuts, gypsum powder, millet, etc. to the standard recipe can increase yields, flushes, etc. Does anyone have any recipes that they've had better results with? Also, I don't have access to a pressure cooker, fyi. Any valid recipes would be greatly appreciated. Pics of harvests are always a plus. Thanks again.

I've never seen any conclusive evidence that doing anything other than the basic PF tek recipe is beneficial. PF tek works great. Dunk & roll.

Fahtster had some crazy success with stacking lots of cakes.

I'd like to try gypsum, but does anyone know how much to add to the brf/verm mix? Also, where can I find gypsum? Im pretty new to all of this, so any help is appreciated. Right now I've got some Ecuadors & F+ cakes. They turned out well, but after the first flush was over, I dunked them for 24 hrs, and now the F+ cakes are turning blue-ish grey. They're still fruiting, but most are aborts. Oh well. I've got some Tasmanian & Ecuador cakes incubating. Thanks for any help guys.

Gypsum can be found at pretty much any local garden supply stores, lowes should have it, home depot, etc etc.
Look it up on google if your not aware of what it is or is packaged like.
I would add just a tiny bit to each cake. I dont know the exact answer to that tho

I've used ground wbs in place of brf. the wbs does alot better as my brf never did much.

Ah, thank you. Does WBS need to be pressure cooked? Cuz I don't have a PC. With the BRF/Verm mix, I cook em' for 90 minutes in a pot.

I think it's 1-Tbsp of gypsum per 5 half pint jars.

thats right, some people even add more...

it seems to me gypsum is the best and only additive you should use at the moment, unless you feel like experimenting.

i myself thought of adding coffee to my cakes but in the end decided not to

I've only ever used BRF. I buy it as long grain, non-ground up. I always grind it myself. Is it better to have fine or coarse ground flour? Has anyone tried using non-ground brown rice? Just curious.

When you dunk & roll the cakes, what temperature should the water be? I've read it needs to be like 40f. That seems pretty cold.

The water does not have to be nothing.
Doesnt have to be cold/warm, sterilized/distilled, its fine right out of the tap and you can set them at room temp for your dunk.
