For anyone who has been a long time user of mushrooms: What have been the affects over the course of your use? any bad/good/neutral affects?

um, i think im the same person i was before i started doing shrooms, only now i know what its like to do shrooms.

i have had some intense revelations on shrooms, but usually i wake up the next morning and its like nothing ever happened.

of course, i still remember the revelations, but i think there comes a point where you realize that you cant change who you are and how you think because of a drug.

thats when you start to look like a burnt out hippy to the rest of society, and as much as it would be awesome to be totally burnt out and just let loose, id like to maintain my ability to be a functioning member of society who isnt looked at as being a burnt out hippy.

Ive tripped on to many other things in that time line to be able to say whether or not any of it was from the mushrooms specifically.

^This^.....

I will say, though, out of all the various psychedelics I've dabbled & experimented with mushrooms have been the most profound for me. As far as introspection, working through personal problems, and "eye opening" experiences/revelations in general.

I hold a very deep respect for mushrooms, they've taught me more and have brought me to places/states that no other psychedelic has (so far). They're the one psychedelic I can't (and won't) just take on a whim, or for shits & giggles with friends in a recreational manner.

I think I'm flirting with that fine line just a little bit, not from mushrooms but psychedelics in general, along with a few other contributing factors. I still have a clear mind, consider my self pretty grounded & somewhat of an intelligent dude. I'm just a bit fed up with the world and where I'm at at this point in life....But times & people change, and I'm still young

i had one of the most profound trips that probably changed how I deal with the world on mushrooms...but as far as hppd and actual insanity I think i got more of that from RC's and LSD.

Id imagine I come across as a burnt out hippie to some people though. I tripped every week over a period of years and have lost the ability to communicate normally unless i see it in writing first. Also I usually cant remember what happened a minute prior other than flashbulb longterm memories. i dont see anything in a linear aspect either, it's all chopped up in frames and there are constant tracers.

Mushrooms gradually enabled me to take life a lot less seriously, that is to say, more seriously.

Yeah...or more or less they bring me to the realization that no matter what my action it is utterly insignificant in the end so I might as well do nothing to conserve energy.

"Doing" and "not-doing" is a dichotomy that we infatuate over. Who is driving the boat when we sleep? And yet it keeps tugging along to the morning.

Mooji said to watch the watcher and you'll get closer to your real self. Alan Watts said there is no real self, but a web of relationships. Robert Anton Wilson said if we meditate and ask ourselves "why am I sitting here mediating?" - we will gradually deduce it is because the Vikings over-fished the North sea in the 1700s. Timothy Leary said: Boogah boogah!

...Or spend countless hours in graduate school reading philosophy books and attending lectures.

But as an old man in Nepal once told me, "same same."

i didn't consider myself a veteran.... but mow that i think about it.... my first trip was 7 years ago:eek:

maybe that still doesn't make me a veteran though, it just seems like along time ago all of a sudden

overall it's given me a better outlook on life, i suppose

but last week i had some weird peripheral hallucinations off of a very low dose:uhoh: i'm worried it may be the dreaded HPPD

anyone had HPPD?

Long time user, first time posting in this thread.

Psychedelics are wonderful.
I've noticed myself before mushrooms/psychedelics, and I was a kind loving boy
with problems, who worried about things like his soul, poetry, music, god and the
universe.

I noticed myself after I took mushrooms/psychedelics and was still that boy.

Oh yeah and shrooms make you gay.
