 tesla: anyone ever built a plasma ball or jacobs ladder?

i have a brand new transformer and i am going to make either a plasma ball or jacob's ladder using it.
output of transformer: 15k v, 20k hz, and 20ma.
have any of you done this before? any good suggestions or advice?
any tesla fans here?

I have made both a tesla coil and jacob's ladder using a 12kv, 60ma neon sign transformer. The ladder is simple to make, the coil takes a lot of work.
For the ladder, get two wire clothes hangers and unbend them with a pair of pliers. Bend the two wires into shape, screw them onto the lugs of the transformer and let it go. You will have to adjust the spark gap length to get it to start... usually about 1cm works best.

The above is the shape of the wires. The transformer sits inbetween the o's. The
bottom gap is about 1cm and the top gap around 6cm or so.
Be careful, 12kv at 60ma is lethal and painful.
The coil is too difficult for me to explain on here. I would also need to dig out my notes. I do remember having to build an oil capacitor out of aluminum foil and window glass and a spark gap and the secondary coil. The primary coil is just loose wire on standoffs. I used a nice round doorknob for the top discharge.

Not that bad... the tuning can be a little tricky. I was traveling down memory lane last night and remembered what happened with our tesla coil. This was in 1991 when I was in school. We built a pretty good sized coil that would deliver around 2 million volts... fun with physics surplus. 
Anyway, we finish winding the secondary coil, and get everything hooked up in my friends dorm room (>10 story building). We plug the thing in and quickly flee from the room in terror. The damn thing was arcing hundreds of 'bolts of lightning' from the door knob at the top of the coil to the walls of the room. After a few minutes we were able to find the RA with a key to the breaker box and able to cut the power to the room.
Later that night, the FCC shows up looking for the source of some strange interference. Turns out that the airplanes flying overhead lost their radio for about 10 minutes because of our little mishap. We didn't get into any trouble, but it was an wicked sight.
