Very few on the Shroomery consolidate bulk substrates. Why?

Hey folks,
I have been very confused as of late with consolidation of bulk substrates. It seems that very few people do it on these boards, yet they fully endorse the consolidation of PF cakes. Why is this?
I have found that after 100% colonization of a bulk substrate, allowing it to consolidate for another week improves even pin sets and yields. This is the same principle which supports the consolidation of PF cakes.
Also, I have found that initiating fruiting conditions immediately after 100% colonization doesn't really improve the time until harvest. Most often, the cakes or bulk substrate will spend about 5-7 days sitting there until knotting and then pinning anyway.
I have even heard RR state that commercial mushrooms farms always give their bulk substrates a considerable consolidation period. Why is it that on the Shroomery people are so hasty with the bulk substrates? Does one week really matter, especially when considering yields will likely improve after consolidation and that time until harvest isn't really improved?

I am still not convinced by this. I don't think fruiting sooner without consolidating will get you pins any faster.

A week after full colonization should be considered minimum. Exposing to fruiting conditions earlier will only dry out your substrate. Harvest is definitely better if you wait 2 to 3 weeks after full colonization before fruiting bulk substrates. RR

Ever since the first time I saw rr post about commercial growers letting bulk consolidate I've done just that
Fruiting space is valuable colonizing space is cheap
Wait tell your bins let you know that there ready

My first few times i rushed it, didnt know better and had more important experiments than seeing what waiting longer would do . Now that I have enough substrate, i always wait.

For cakes I always hear 1 week consolidation. Why is there a difference in consolidation times?
