Unintended Psilocybe growing in orchid pot

I wasn't going to post this but thought maybe I should get some help figuring out exactly what it is and showing it to those interested. I'm pretty certain it is a wood-loving Psilocybe but my mushroom identification skills only get me that far. Got this orchid from a lady a month or two back because she was going to toss it otherwise. Pretty sure she used landscaping chips to pot up this orchid.
Habitat: Wood chips used as orchid substrate - probably landscaping chips
Gills: Not yet exposed
Stem: White darkening towards the base
Cap: Small (1/4-1/2" diameter), caramel
Spore print color: Not yet opened, will take one when appropriate
Bruising: Haven't bruised it yet
Other information:Took this picture 3/28:

Took this picture 3/29:

EDIT: Thought I'd leave a picture of the plant since it's relevant

Took this picture 3/30:

Well I'll be damned! That's frickin awesome!!
I can say that it is definitely a wood-loving Psilocybe, but at this stage I personally can only throw a guess as to what species that is. I looks like it could be a cyan with a beefy stipe, or maybe just an ovoid?
Either way, that's a wicked cool find, thanks for sharing!

I am in Portland, OR. My first instinct is P. cyanescens - they seem fairly common when given the right chips to grow on around here. It may be that because it's been grown indoors it's got an unusual shape compared to the ones I usually see.

Hard to say what it is at this point, keep misting it a lot and keep the humidity up and take pictures twice a day.
When it is fully mature dry the sample and make a good spore print on tinfoil.

I actually didn't buy this plant and doubt it has much to do with the plant at all. I think the entire reason the mushroom is growing there is because the person I got it from used landscaping chips rather than store-bought wood chips for the orchid potting medium and living in the PNW there are these kinds of spores everywhere.
Also I've gone through several hundred plants before ever having one with any Psilocybe growing in it so don't count on finding one anytime soon :P Of course this was the only plant I've ever had growing in landscaping chips hehe.
Took this picture this morning:

This is a very keen assessment and most certainly true.

Keep em coming! We'll know what that sucker is here soon... You being from Portland makes me lean even more towards the Psilocybe cyanesens notion (though, still, I feel like that is a beefy stem for a Cyan...). Have you been misting it ever so often?

This is very likely.. I could certainly see it being [i[Psilocybe subaeruginosa (although, you said "P. subbs" and I'm not even sure that subaeruginosa is what you meant).

In my mind it is a Psilocybe, but I could be wrong.
Doesn't really look like Agrocybe to me.
Given the time of year it could be P. ovoideocystidiata, but P. cyanescens is also possible.

Reminds me of Agrocybe erebia a little. The stem is also "smooth to finely hairy; whitish, becoming brownish from the base up". Doesn't seem as likely though - Psilocybe seems like a good match. Blue bruising would clear things up pretty quick.

In my experience, ovoids seem to be more of an olive color at that stage of growth. I vote cyan.

haha! When I first saw this thread I was like "nah, this poster is clearly having high hopes..." but it's pretty awesome that the community is backing up the ID as a psilocybe!
I'm not ID'er either, so I really can't say. I could ID a cube from a mile away, but beyond that I'm not so confident.

I think it might be the lighting. Also, does the base of this look blue (near the substrate)? I just noticed that the other day.

check out today's picture. maybe it's just the angle, but that veil does not scream P. cyanescens to me.
any way to finagle a little more of an up-skirt view of that thing?

nah; just speculating.
it's still immature and there's certainly more to see as it opens up, but that veil certainly does look membranous, tomentose or at least certainly not cortinate the way those of P. cyanescens are.

I am glad there is discussion of other genera here that I am not experienced enough to know. The bottom of the stem looks a bit dark colored compared to most Psilocybes I've seen unless maybe they're bruised up but what do I know :P
I've been maintaining the pot pretty much as I had been with 1, maybe 2 mistings a day but I gave the chips a little extra moisture.
I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a miraculous Psilocybe but I'm at least glad to see a new interesting mushroom in my pot Oh and by the way that's about the only angle I can get of that mushroom with my camera short of breaking the pot or plant.
