and they reek like sweat. And they still aren't fully dried! (FUCK YOU HUMIDITY) Ill post a pic when I get home from work, but you guys think they would still be safe to eat? What if i just made tea with them after they were fully dried up.
Thanks, GeumBbang

nope.. treat them like food, as that is what they are.. if they stink, then you didnt dry them quick enough..
think about it.. would you buy some portobellos from the store, leave them out for a week, and eat them? nooopppee.. at least I would hope not.. haha
how were you trying to dry them?
you do also know that you can eat them fresh, no problem?

they need to be dried within a period of 48 hours (optimal) Id say maximum 3 days but even thats a stretch. I suggest using youre oven for quick results. Mind as well, they need to be DRY, cracker dry. If you leave even some caps moist the rest will suck it up and the mushrooms will rot.
For increased results, I would slice them up:)

teehee.. i like to, as well.. plus, i always make a bunch of tea with used substrate and mushies.. but yeah.. 3 days at the absolute longest.. 48 hours max.. get them dry, or eat them..
again, tea is a really good way to store them, as well...

fresh mush is raunchy. i preferred dried. ( and if you wanna get gourmet. ad some melted chocolait to create heaven)
but yeah if they smell funky toss em. sorry for your loss.
dont mess around tho, you could get very sick if you eat some bad boomers.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck no!!! hahahaha.. i stopped using shit the first day I found out about coir, and havent used it since.. poo gave great results, but I still get stellar results with coir, its cheap, readily available, easy to prep.. and its not poopoo..
you say "doodoo"? I say "dontdont".. hahaha
its coir.. and I strain it very very very much.. cheese cloth works great for this.. and all of my friends love it.. we have found ourselves standing around playing the movie game or quarters, and taking shots of the shroom tea, instead of alky.. for sure the party favorite.. haha

Could one raise the room temperature with a fan heater that makes it very dry + fan on it for 24 hours?

food dehydrator
desiccant
oven
it usually pretty dry where I am at, so fan drying, then finishing with desiccant works best.. they pretty much cracker dry after the fan treatment, but the desiccant pulls the rest of the moisture out, ensuring a thorough dry..

I saw the desiccant tek. Does it need to be in an airtight chamber to ensure the balance? As in, should I put desiccant on a screen over a bowl and the mushrooms over the desiccant in an airtight chamber? So all the humidity would HAVE to be pulled into the desiccant (the driest item).
