Actually I love this type of shit, was just listening to Amon Amarth earlier.
Never tried listening to metal on psychedelics but that sounds interesting.

Do it dude. It has completely changed how I view and compose music, especially while listening to a band such as Deathspell Omega who do not believe in nonsense such as 'boundaries'.
These guys are the most brilliant musicians of this century methinks. Their album trilogy tackles a HEAVY fucking subject matter; the metaphysical relationship between Man, God and Satan, and they manage to do it in an intelligent, non-pretentious manner that really provokes some thoughts.
Plus the music is fucking insane. Hasjarl (DsO guitarist) has got to be my favorite guitarist in the universe.
I'm sure people would listen to the song in the OP and appreciate the first 2 minutes of it, but once the relentless chaos comes in it's like "ARGH IZ JUZT NOIZE N STUFFS " yet if you think about it considering the subject matter of the music, it is the most logical, reasonable way to go about it and is IN NO WAY "meaningless noise". Actually listen to the song in headphones(the video I posted is HQ version of the song) and meditate on it. Once you hear every note perfectly you will understand why I love them the way I do (I'm a squealing nefarious fangirl in essence )
And the song composition definitely nods to the notion that they draw influence from classical composers. This is not a verse-chorus-verse algorithm, this song (and many of their songs) are more akin to classical movements, and they actually convey emotion and the atmosphere they intended.

I just like Amon Amarth because it brings out the viking berserker that lies buried deep within me, waiting for his time to slaughter the weak like dogs.
I'll have to give Deathspell a listen though, I've been wanting to get into more black/death metal lately. Really gets the blood pumping.

For Deathspell Omega I would highly suggest their latest album "Paracletus". It is very controlled chaos, more direct and straightforward and isn't just 'black metal'. Some have said it sounds a bit like "mathcore" but listen for yourself.
Here are my two favorites from that album. The track lengths are perfect too, all 4-6 minutes long and less.
I love Amon Amarth too (the synchronized windmills are sick ) but ultimately I'd have to say, DsO are my favorite for black metal. They ARE black metal, as there is no band that goes "blacker" than they do.
If you enjoy Paracletus, get Si Monumentum Requires Circumspice. It is a bit more 'traditional' black metal. If you like that then go ahead and get Fas - Ite, Maledicti, In Ignem Aeternum (yes, my signature). That is probably my favorite from them now and I listen to it almost every day. It is sheer, uncontrolled, relentless, chainsaw-to-the-fucking-skull pandemonium, yet deep down you can see that they know exactly what they are doing.

That I did not know, Isis are pretty damn good (sludge or post-metal I believe?)
As I said before, get:
Si Monumentum Requires Circumspice Fas - Ite, Maledicti, In Ignem Aeternum Paracletus
That's all you need.
Ah, and their EP's are pretty fucking sweet too. The songs are usually 15+ minutes though. There's
