Only Hunt After Rain?
    #14203707 - 03/29/11 01:15 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Hey guys, I'm new here but I read all the relevant FAQ's and stickies before I had a question I couldn't find an answer to.

So I'm all ready to go hunting, I've made a list and gathered good descriptions of the shrooms that are indigenous to my area (east Texas), their habitats and whatnot and I got the proper supplies, and found a cow field in my area (gonna mostly be hunting for cubes).

But I keep seeing here and there that mushrooms pop up after a good rain and are best picked a few days after the rain, so my question is; should I definitely wait for it to rain before going out? Is it unlikely I'll find anything right now?

I would just go and see and have fun looking but it's a ways away and with gas prices the way they are I can't just be driving cities away every day to find out for myself.

TLDR: How necessary is rain and what are the ideal weather conditions for cubes?

it depends on how dry it is.  most of texas is in a drought but they've still been popping up around houston.  if you've had high humidity or live near the coast and get fog at night you might have a chance.

 welcome to the shroomery

Thanks for the info. Humidity has been in the high 80's around here so I'll give it a shot, for kicks at least and to get used to the area.
