I took an inoculated ryegrain bag with very very little mycelium growth (to dry i believe) and emptied it into a terrarium with a layer of organic soil, the subsrate, more soil, and a few fresh tobacco leaves (to lock in moisture).
This is right after i set it up:

This is one day later:

and this is about 10 hours later:

I thought it may be cobweb mold, but i sprayed some hydrogen peroxide (3%) on it and it stayed intact.
any input would be appreciated!

maybe its slightly green in the pictures, but upclose it is a solid white mass, with the rye berries disappearing more and more every couple hours. however on the top of the soil there are some white 'threads' coming out of the soil.

That does not look good.
The mere fact that you spawned uncolonized grain like put the odds out of your favor for any sort of success, then you over hydrated your substrate, a far from ideal substrate I might add, and then covered it with leaves, leaves undoubtedly covered in unfriendly spores and such. Did you even pasteurize the substrate?
I dont mean to sound harsh, and I'd love to help if you have any questions but...it seems to me you've got a bit of research to do before your next go round my friend.
cheers.

this was just an experiment, i have a few other bags colonizing however i just wanted to see what would happen. The soil was sterilized in a PC, and the tobacco leaves were fresh picked from my closet. I was just so shocked with all the growth that i wanted to confirm if it was a contaminate or not.

Yeah, unless you have a way to keep your substrate completely sterile during and after spawning it's always best to pasteurize, unless you're spawning outdoors, in which case it's fine to use as is.

Stringy growth on the top is most likely just rhizomorphic growth. The pictures look alright to me if you say its solid white I see no problems

OOooh tobacco Spirit + Mushrooms. That's a sacred mix. Honestly, I would think it would be like putting tobacco leaves next to a peyote button or in an ayhuasca mixture. Why did you come across an "experiment" like this? Any intentions?

it was really just a spur of the moment thing. I wanted to see if any mycelium would grow, and in the small chance that it does, if any nicotine would be absorbed into the shrooms themselves.
Im going to keep this going, maybe even move outside for a bit, just to see what will happen.

i doubt it will be absorbed by the shrooms, but it should keep bugs away.

What part looks gross? i mixed a small portion of the berries and most have a thick white clumps encasing them. Ill post a picture of some of the suspected mycelium tomorrow, and if it looks suspicious ill dispose of it.
